Would you move to tel aviv?

Dh is interviewing for a high level job within his company. We will need to relocate to either Fort Wayne, Indiana or tel aviv. Neither appeals to me, though I think being abroad for a few years my be fun. We have one DC age two and are trying for a second. We are Jewish but not religious at all, haven't been to high holy day services since college.

Neither one not the other! DH would have to rethink his plans.
But then I'm not Jewish, and have zero desire to live in a tinderbox region, or a backwater.

Hell. No. Not either!

Tel Aviv is supposed to be a fantastic city. Haven't been, but I'd look into it seriously.

Yes. I'm not Jewish but would move there. I would never move to Indiana.

And so close to so many places.

I have friends who have done similar kinds of moves abroad-- I would say, go for it! I have spent time in Tel Aviv, and it is a great city. Very cosmopolitan, high standard of living, most people speak some english, great food, etc. Culture that likes kids, big expat communities...Also, from Tel Aviv, you are closer to many other countries than in the US and could go to Europe for a few days for vacation etc. if you want.

Living there would certainly not be super-easy (bureaucracy is legendary), but I would imagine corporate relocation would make it pretty easy...

There are of course safety and security issues... bad things can certainly happen anywhere. For better or worse, in my time traveling there, it does not feel unsafe when you are actually there (although I have not been in Tel Aviv during wartime).

I would pick Tel Aviv but DH would pick Indiana, so I guess I'd end up there :/

Not Jewish and I'd move there; it is an amazing place! There are so many well educated, fascinating people there from all over the world; I met a teenage girl from Colombia on my last trip (she was Jewish). And it is safe OP; don't worry about that.

I'll pick most places over Ft Wayne, Indiana. Tel Aviv is a real city with a cosmopolitan culture. No contest.

Chances are, in the history of humankind, this question--with these two choices--has never been asked before. The answer, though, is easy: no.

Depends on how long the placement would be. I would be excited to go to tel aviv for a couple of years, but wouldn't really want to raise my children there past about elementary school.... Though I'm not Jewish, so the idea that your kids would be "outsiders" might not be as relevant to you.

I would pick tel aviv if it wasn't for security concerns.

You are jewish - uhh this should be a no brainer.

Tel Aviv is a cracking city.
