Would you move to tel aviv?

I'm not Jewish and I'd move to Tel Aviv in a heartbeat. Sounds like it's a no brainer for you. Fantastic place, so easy to travel to Europe and Asia from there.

I would never ever move to Ft Wayne even though I'm sure it's a lovely place.

Tel Aviv is largely a secular city...My cousin (who is orthodox) points out it is easier to find a Kosher Restaurant in Chicago than Tel Aviv.

Truly baffled that this theead is on to the 2nd page and only one poster has mentioned the security issues. Craziness. We had a conference scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv less than a year ago and it was cancelled since it was considered too big a safety risk for people to travel there even for a few days conference let alone living there.

I really do not see how you can ignore the very unfortunate security risk of moving there even if it is a wonderful city.

Now that the Iranians have been calmed down, the OP only has to be concerned about ISIS and Hezbollah

I wouldn't move to either one and would start looking for third alternatives.

Tel Aviv is an awesome city. I visited my brother in Indiana...I never need to go back to that state.

Tel Aviv in a heartbeat! I know some people have issues with terrorism and that is totally understandable. However, I actually felt safer there than I do here at home. I saw a fight break out on the street between two Israelis. Within one minute there were 10 police, each grabbing one of the people and they were put into the police vans. I have never seen anything like that taken care of that quickly.

Tel Aviv, although I would want something in the relo agreement about reassignment/evacuation should the security situation deteriorate

Israel is fascinating and there are so many learning opportunities for your kids about history, archaeology, etc...

Most Israelis are secular, particularly in Tel Aviv

I would imagine schools are good, great weather, great beaches

I would be excited to go to tel aviv for a couple of years, but wouldn't really want to raise my children there past about elementary school.... Though I'm not Jewish, so the idea that your kids would be "outsiders" might not be as relevant to you.

np. Jews have been "outsiders" forever, so no need for the passive aggressiveness.

I would move pretty much anywhere for the experience of living in a new place and a new culture. So, yes - I would move. I am not Jewish (raised Catholic) but loved traveling through Israel and would have moved there is given the opportunity.

I am Jewish and originally from Indiana. Tel Aviv hands down. I'm not originally from the Ft Wayne area but there isn't enough money in the world for me to move back to anywhere in Indiana and my family still lives there. (just outside of Chicago)

Most of Israel is very secular, which is one reason I would feel very comfortable living there as a non Jew.

I have no desire to live abroad. I would miss my extended family too much. Is Fort Wayne near anything?

I love Tel Aviv! I lived there years ago and would love to go back as an adult with a real job (not working odd jobs to travel). It's very secular. There is a religious section but most who live in Tel Aviv are cosmopolitan and not religious.

Indeed.

"Wartime" is, on one level or another, every day there. My brother's lived in Jerusalem for over 25 yrs (splitting time between there & teaching in US each year) and the security issues are real and every day matters. Tel Aviv is more secular, of course, but it's still in Israel and the issues never go away.

I wouldn't move to Israel, period. After hearing my brother's stories of what it's like dealing with the bureaucracy, etc., forget it. It doesn't matter to me being Jewish or not (I am but nonobservant and definitely not sympathetic to the crazy rantings of Netanyahu and his ilk who have taken over the national political dialogue).
