Would you move to tel aviv?

Total non-issue.

Have you even been there? ever??

I guess it depends on how often does he have to travel to the states for business?

Connect with your heritage, and go to Tel-Aviv. There are good parts and there are bad parts, find the one you want to live in. But, first take a trip there and talk to the local people.

And so close to so many places.

And so close to suicide bombers.

you are originally from flyover country aren't you?

Spending money on experiences > getting a 5000 sqft house to match your 5000 sqft spouse.

NP here. I think your response to PP is pretentious and kind of obnoxious. I'm not a fan of McMansions. And I'm "cultured." But I like having my own space. I also like having a yard and dogs and cats. Living in an apartment in a city full time (as opposed to just traveling there for a temporary "experience") would not appeal to me.

I think you could buy a house with a yard in Indiana and still have enough money leftover to buy "experiences" and travel.

I find it obnoxious when people assume the only experiences worth having are ones that involve travel. I've traveled, and yet my best memories -- hands down -- are the ones that involve running around barefoot in my backyard as a kid chasing fireflies.

I hate it when people pretend they're enlightened and open minded and then make a statement that is completely closed off to the possibility that other people might enjoy different experiences than the kind they enjoy.

I don't have children, and I understand some people like raising kids in a city. But that wouldn't be my preference. One is not better than the other. They're just different.

If this is OP, this is actually an argument FOR moving to TA. Not that TA itself is rustic, but Israelis are very nature oriented - the beach (well you do have that in TA) hiking, etc. People I know who have spent a lot of time there found the culture so much more "chill" than metro DC. Its not the midwest, but it's not like American coastal cities either.

Shall we discuss the mass murders, decapitations, and rampant kidnapping in Mexico? Good thing we have a secure border with that country! (oh wait. . .).

By your logic, how could you possibly consider living in America??!

Isn't that what they say about Washingtonians? Admittedly, yes, Israeli culture is not as polite as you may be used to but you can't label an entire nationality as "dicks." Unless you yourself are a dick. Because that is a dick move.

Sure you can! Just like saying the French are rude, the Germans are arrogant, and Americans are big, loud and dumb. It's a national character thing!

Took the thought right out of my head - thanks.

As for PP: What a bigoted, anti-Semitic generalization to make!

YOU are the dick, PP. You should think long and hard about your prejudices and overall worth as a human being.

Anti-semitic? Don't be a moron. If Israel was a completely atheist country, they'd still be dicks. They're just like that.
