CM lottery

That's basically 9% getting in... yes, still totally bad odds if you really really wanted CM, but I don't know why, I thought there would be even more applicants.

CM isn't as well known as many others and is relatively new. If it wasn't mentioned on DCUM, I would have never heard of CM.

But DCUM is pretty much a proxy for what is going on with middle class and upper class DC. For every parent talking about something here, there are certainly more in DC who don't even know DCUM exists. We just moved to DC in 2012 and found out about CM immediately in asking other schools questions about schools.

I think it's just as well known as the other charters except maybe the national ones like Kipp, and the DC ones who've been around a bit longer, like EL Haynes and Cap City.

It will be REALLY interesting to see the detailed common lottery data. So interesting (and I hope will be released) to see which schools got applied to at all in people's lists of 12, which schools were #1 the most, and which were in the top 3 the most.

Also, how many unique applications for each grade were there...

It's only through the common lottery that you get a sense for just how many students needing spots in grades like PS3-1st there are, and again for 5th, 6th and 9th.

Hope they release all sorts of detailed data to the public from this lottery!

The schools know the detailed data right now from the common lottery.

They know how many applicants they have.

They know how many of their current students applied for other schools (they do not know name - just # of current students per grade)

Right, the schools know, but we don't know. Not complaining, obviously the 1st priority is actually processessing the results and getting the schools their list of admitted and waitlisted students.

But once that's done, I'm really hoping they release the data to the public, also including how many open slots for each grade each school had to lottery, and the numbers of applicants.

So will the calls or postcards go out on Monday?

I think calls today, postcards Monday (or Tuesday if there is a storm that shuts things down). So expect to hear a WL number mid week.

Has anyone received a call yet telling them they got in?

I'll bet no one has received a call, bc at least one person would post...?!?

Most schools won't have spots in upper grades (unless they're currently underenrolled) until they complete the re-enrollment process later in the spring. Then they'll start pulling from the "waitlist"

Anyone know how many spots for K?

Weird, because big you check last year's thread, they called right after the lottery (which was held on a Friday evening).

But, it gives us all hope!

Only 19 spaces available for non sibs. Not sure if any of those 19 are on DCUM but we can hope.

I'm one of the 380 applicants but I don't know whether I'm one of the 19 lucky ones, because I haven't received a call. Or does that mean I'm not one of the lucky ones? Anyone got a call or knows about the call schedule?
My front porch's unobstructed view of their future building is going to nag me until I know...

Only 18 spaces in question because I was at the lottery and know one of the nineteen non sibs who got pk3.
