CM lottery

I got my postcards yesterday - two kids in ps3 lottery. Both with high WL numbers.

Ps3 with #47
If we got in before Labor Day I would consider it; otherwise I'm not pulling my kid out of school once the year starts

what is your long term elementary schoool plan?

The shuffle will not be over until the 1st week in October? CCPCS is not starting until after labor day. There will definitely be movement after labor day this year. Probably not a lot - but some.

Moving your child in October is a bump if it means long term you have a good option.

Do you plan to keep him there long term if you don't get a good spot this year?

Don't know. We're currently renting and plan to buy something before K in a school district we would want. Obviously CM would make things easier, but he's a reserved child and it takes him awhile to get comfortable in a situation. Just don't know how I feel about getting him acclimated to a school for a month and then changing it. And obviously this is moot if they don't go that high on the WL!

Good luck, I hope you get in. Sounds like a small school program like CM would be perfect.

I have a theory that even though the move may lead to more attrition among current families than expected, that it will actually mean that more lottery winners will accept their spots and waitlist won't go very deep because more parents playing the lottery live EOTP. What do you think? (From a 30+ waitlist #).

Where is the new location?
Anonymous
I certainly hope your theory's wrong, since CM seems to pull heavily from WOTP families relative to most other charters (from a 40+ on the waitlist!).

I am in the single digits for kindergarten, do you think it will move?

There are 0 WOTP kids in my child's class of 17.

There are quite a few in K and Pre-k 4.

Luckily we shouldn't have to wait for the May & September shuffles this year to find out....
