They will do what they did the year before: contact families who got a space and mail postcards with wait list numbers. |
Thanks. Not that it really matters, since I know our chances as a non-sib for PK3 are slimmer than slim, but will those who get in have to decide before the common lottery results are out? And will CM announce whether/where they are moving to so people can weigh that in their decision-making? |
I don't know but I imagine you can accept CM if you get in and tell them you are going if they require you to tell them before common lottery results. And then when lottery results come out and you get in someplace else, just withdraw from CM and then accept the other school. This is why the common lottery was created: to avoid this phenomenon from happening charter-school wide as there were no backstops to stop someone from being enrolled in several charters at the same time. After all, you are not paying a deposit as you would do in private school. |
it will not matter if you need to decide before common lattery. You can accept CM - and after you find the results of common turn it down - just like it has been in the past. |
What about the potential move? I hope that, like they said at the open house, they will announce it with the lottery results.
At the open house, they said they would announce whether/where they were going to move before people had to accept from the initial lottery. It seemed like 50/50 whether they would stay in their building or move, so it seemed a distinct possibility that they would be going somewhere else in wards 1 or 4. I hope they stay where they are! |
^^you contradicted yourself in your post. Which is it: did they say they will announce the move with the lottery results OR before people have to accept from the initial lottery? |
Sorry, to be clear, they said they would announce the move before people need to accept. They said nothing about the common lottery.
I need to get more coffee! |
Thanks for all the helpful info!! |
They are moving and they know exactly where. This was told to me by a CM parent but since I'm not one myself it doesn't feel right to be the one to post the location. Call the school, I'm sure they'll tell you. |
Ugh. I hope it is near the current site and accessible by public transportation. I know some ward 4 schools like Haynes are off my list for location. |
Pretty annoying post. If you know and it is not a secret then just post the information. If you know and it is a secret then why mention it at all? I hated kids who did stuff like this when I was growing up: "I know something you don't know but I can't tell you" |
Haynes is right on the 63 bus! |
Which is neither near where I live or work. |
But that's not what you asked. |
I didn't "ask" anything. |
