Homosexuality and the Bible

I'm an atheist and I just asked a serious question. I also have posted before. I just came on and read the response and it seems......odd to me. OK, whatever, that's what's going on with the old and new testament I guess. But what seems to me is that this thread started with a good old fashioned funny posting, and people went batcrap crazy with indignation. Just let it go every now and then, don't barf your beliefs all over the place every. single. time. and maybe we'd all get along better.

16:37 again. I should add the mud slinging and insults are going in both directions.

The "funny" posting mocked people of faith. It seems odd that atheists think people of faith shouldn't be allowed to respond to it.

I think all the genuine believers have ditched this thread, because of the unwillingness of the atheists here to do anything besides hurl insults. The response you read was apparently from another atheist. That's why it doesn't exactly make the Christians' case.

Oh, for god's sake. There's a book written by a proto-agricultural society over the course of a thousand years by a legion of authors, and we're supposed to have an "adult conversation" about what it has to say about the rights of homosexuals. Did I get that right?

Way to make a generalization. I'm an atheist and the only thing I contributed to the thread was the NY times article as food for thought.

It's too bad you left after your NY Times contribution, then. Because the remaining atheists just ... hurled insults.

The point still stands, though, that the person who responded to your second (?) post seems to have been an atheist, if her use of they word "they" for believers, the scorn she heaps on the bible, and her linking to an atheist website are any indication.

It's like arguing with the Tea Party.

One group calls you a commie, the other group calls you a fundamentalist nutcase that believes in fairies. One group says any cr@p they want on Fox news, the other group links to something that insults Christians and misquotes the bible.

But whoaa! You don't like it, and you dare to talk balk? You're not being bipartisan!

Atheists tend to be cranky. Not exactly sure why, but might have something to do with original sin.

I like how people generalize an entire group of people based on 2-3 people on a DCUM post. Perhaps our "crankiness" is due to that?

According to the bible:
farmers must leave half the produce on the field
pedestrians are free to pick fruit from your apple tree
thou shalt not covet
pride is a sin
woman is unclean during her period
badly behaving children must be put to death
a tenth of your increase must go to a levite Priest

New poster here. I don't believe in God or Deity. This is 21st century people! who cares what Bible says. It's just fables that ancient people made up for illiterate people to keep them from killing each other.

Apparently you don't believe in definite articles, either.

"Maybe the atheist cannot find God for the same reason a thief cannot find a policeman."
