what charter spot(s) did you receive but are turning down?

YY parent here. I don't think that there is a disproportionate number of "Tiger Moms" at Yu Ying. Sure, a lot of parents who want what is best for their children, but most of us are not extreme. Please come to one (or both) of the spring events that Yu Ying is having (the Kid Fest May 15 and the Dragon Festival on June 11). You'll find that most of us are rather normal.

Really? I'm surprised because I am very active at the school and have been to nearly all of the PA meetings since the school has opened. But yet, no tiger moms. (FWIW, no one plays at the playground after school, either.) Perhaps you have been misinformed or interacted with some weird outliers? Most of the parents are really mellow and good people to hang out with. We have potlucks, knitting groups, get togethers and play dates. Come to think of it, I would welcome some tiger moms for comic relief

I've only ever interacted with two Yu Ying parents in real life (not a couple). One seemed totally cool, the other came off like a pretentious, bragging jerk. Blech.

I have interacted with two Yu Ying parents and they were great.

we have a very low # for LAMB - will get accepted once the offers go out for the new campus. Unfortunately, we will need to decline as it will be impossible to do drop-offs in the AM. (We live and work West of the park).

I thought there were so many siblings that they had to have a lottery just to let them in. Some of them are on a waiting list.

Anyone (who hasn't posted yet) giving up a PS-3 slot at Inspired Teaching--or know anyone who is?

The Yu Yimg family I know best are basically great people but SO SO STRANGE. One parent is so strange it would almost scare me away from the school.

ONE parent who is "basically great," "but strange" would scare you away from a school? Wow.

Say, what waiting lists are you on and how good are your numbers? I bet I can find someone strange to scare you away...

Is this at 2 rivers? If so, I guess that is not an option for us.

Just gave up a slot today for PS3 at inspired teaching. We were torn but ultimately went with an existing school. Good luck.

Yes, they had to have a lottery for the sibs because there were more of them than there were spots. I would not count on getting into Two Rivers this year.
