what charter spot(s) did you receive but are turning down?

No, the news about the park is not new. The fact that they have to cross Conn. Ave twice a day to get to it...that is the part I was unaware of until recently.

The "drop-off/pick-up" issue was still unresolved as of the date of the pay date a couple of weeks ago.

I want to be fair to families waiting, but it is hard to make a decision when all of the information is not readily available.

1. What is the drop-off / pick-up issue?

I have a child at another urban school and what happens is about ~50% of the children get there by walking / biking / public transportation
The other 50% figure out how to navigate the surrounding blocks to park and walk their child in.

Is there something else under consideration?

Curb drop off like Peabody ES does off of Stanton Park in Capitol Hill. I know plenty of parents that send their kids there and I have seen the kids dropped off in the morning on my way to my job and it seems to work. I asked a friend about her child and she likes it and her child doesn't mind. Basically, she pulls up in front of the school and a teacher or aid takes her child by the hand after saying goodbye from the car and escorts them to his/her classroom. It is done all the time in NYC where I am originally from--I don't think this is a big deal, but each parent has their own comfort level in dropping off their kid.

Yes. I might be wrong, but I am not aware of an abundance of parking on S street during rush hour. I am also know that there is no parking lane available for pull over, so I would like to hear from the administrators how they plan to handle the situation. The last I heard they were trying to secure a special permit to allow 15 minute parking on that block.

If the drop off time for before care were earlier than 7:30, this would not be as much of an issue. I am sure they will come up with a great plan.
