1. Don't surrender in advance. Have you learned nothing since 2016? 2. Trump can barely stay awake for part of the day. He doesn't have the energy or interest to micromanage DC. 3. The House as possibly even the Senate will be Democrat or Democrat+moderate Republican majority in a few months. |
If you can't tell the difference between Trump and not Trump and I don't know anything worth saying to you or listening from you. Trump has an incredibly consistent record of opposing good people of supporting bad people. |
I'd rather not live in a police state, with troops on every corner, and McDuffie is liberal too. |
"I'd like the Nazis to not invade us so I think we'll appease them" - Denmark, The Netherlands, England, France...etc |
Cripes. Get a grip. The choice between McDuffie and JLG is a choice between a very liberal Democrat and an extremely liberal Democrat who will be sidelined by Trump. |
Way to not understand the analogy. I'll explain. Trump and his cronies are the equivalent of the fascists in the analogy (not as far of a stretch). McDuffie is the one trying to win by appeasing them. |
I like Sampath, but I'm nervous about putting her first because I'd rather have McDuffie over JLG. But, with ranked choice I'm afraid that's not a good strategy. I've tried to find how it's counted, but I'm not finding anything clear. |
There's a remarkable number of levels of stupidity to your analogy. Maybe steer clear of glib comparisons to the Holocaust? Also, obviously, McDuffie has not done a single thing to appease Trump. That's just a dumb thing JLG's campaign says to try to prevent her supporters from peeling off. |
Don't rank JLG at all, and you won't contribute to her campaign. |
That was two years ago. |
A more apt (and definitely less tasteless) analogy would be the 2000 election, when Ralph Nader supporters put George W. Bush in office because they said there was no difference between him and Mr. Climate Change, Al Gore. They look pretty stupid in retrospect. |
| Now I'm 100 percent going to vote for JLG. |
|
I'm sorry but all McDuffie runs on is "teen takeovers." I can't imagine him ever standing up to Trump -- especially since he is backed by the same interests as Bowser and has the same priorities as Trump crony and DC U.S. Attorney Pirro.
Bowser's appeasement strategy hasn't worked. We still have the National Guard here which is a a stain on our city and a real message to anyone who wants to invest here not to -- the instability of investing in a police state run by an 80-year-old racist lunatic is too great. I don't know what McDuffie stands for except his own opportunism. When he fumbled his run for AG and had to drop out, he switched parties to run against the only reliable and kick ass council member we have (Elissa Silverman) and defeated her with Bowser's money and cheap tactics (accusing her of campaign finance violations which Silverman proved in court were false). Now we have him running again and this time exploiting the crime issue. |
JLG and McDuffie have much more in common than not so they have to emphasize whatever issue they poll better than the other one on. He's running on teen takeovers because JLG has a reputation for being soft on crime and not caring about QOL issues. She's spamming me with mailers about Pepco because he has a reputation for being in the pocket of special interests and likely, somehow, on the take. Both criticisms are probably more valid than not, but different voters have different priorities. Whoever you're voting for, of course the criticism of them seems harmless compared to the other candidate. But it works both ways. FWIW I don't think there was a way for Bowser to "win" with Trump. Everyone points to Mamdani but he didn't have to contend with the reality that his City could lose its right to self-govern, that's not exactly apples to apples. Also I don't think the National Guard is a stain on the city telling people not to invest. I think it's a waste of resources and an example of boundary pushing by Trump (soon to come: NG at polling places in blue cities in November) but I work for a company HQ'ed elsewhere in the US and everyone outside of DC had already forgotten the NG was here a week after they were brought in. There have been fifty-eleven scandals since then; nobody remembers. |
