I find it's the opposite. People see her cringy instagram dancing where she looks like a wreck, and declare she needs to be put under a conservatorship. |
She would not have all that money if she'd been on her own. |
She became sober. That was the defining factor. |
I know you want to hold on with an iron fist to the benchmark only being able to provide a home and food, but under California law there are more factors that can contribute to being deemed gravely disabled so either you’re ignorant, highly misinformed or disingenuous. I suspect you just plugged something into Chatgpt and posted it. California law also carves out whether an individual is able to provide for their own personal safety. If someone is unable to safely exist in their community, or cause them serious bodily harm or they’re under severe mental disorder or substance abuse, they may be found to not be able to provide personal safety for themself Britney may very well be there. |
I also think we downplay/overlook how intensely hounded by paparazzi she was, including when she was a brand new mom at, what, 21? The tabloids and the media were nasty and cruel when she was no longer their sweet “pop princess.” Global superstardom, exploitation starting before she was ten (she was one of those Disney kids, if you’ll remember), the Justin fallout - he totally manipulated that situation to his benefit, by the way, and these conflating pressures at an age when most people haven’t even entered the real world. She’s a great case study in why kids really don’t belong in show business. It’s more than the average adult’s psyche can handle - imaging having grown men speculate on your sexuality as a literal child. It was so gross. |
| It just seems like there is not a single person in her life that really cares about her. If she had any sort of real support network maybe she could move out of the spotlight and get sober and on a good medication regime. But when everyone around you just wants to exploit your celebrity, that seems basically impossible. It’s really sad her parents weren’t there for her — maybe that wouldn’t have been enough (see Nick Reiner whose parents were great) but at least she would have had a shot. |
Are you joking? California’s standard is MORE rigorous than Virginia’s (as is expected). There, conservatorship is considered a “last resort” and less restrictive alternatives need to have failed. |
I’m not joking. And why are you even mentioning Virginia. I am talking about California. |
DP- Britney had to sell the rights to her music because she ran out of money. She spent millions on private jets to Mexico over the last few years. It was very reckless spending and those mooching off her have no reason to stop it. |
|
She is a legal adult. In the US it is legal to have unmedicated mental illness.
There is very little her family can do since she is an adult. |
Last time I checked, selling the rights to your music and spending the proceeds for fun doesn’t result in you losing your basic freedoms. Otherwise, like half the NFL retirees would be in conservatorships. |
No one said that. You said BS has a ton of money. She won't soon. |
Agree. People who haven’t dealt with this don’t understand. My sibling has schizophrenia. We had awesome parents who are gone now, but it runs in our family. Didn’t know about it growing up. It’s devastating. |
| At one point she was worth $60 million and her entire family was mooching off of her. She can spend that money on whatever she wants without having to ask people for permission. People are allowed to make mistakes. I cannot excuse the DUI, but the extravagant spending - why not, she earned it. |
Are you being intentionally obtuse? She has impulse control issues along with her addictions which is how she drained her funds. When she has nothing left, her "team" will desert her. Its a very sad situation. |
