Was there ever a conversation that you have to look after the sister and you said no? Maybe mom thought (if she was lucid) that she has to provide, even though there are way better ways to do that. Did she not have a financial advisor with such amount of money?

OP, I am sorry. I am sure that this hurts emotionally as much as the money hurts and the plain old unfairness hurts. It is completely legit for this to hurt a lot on multiple levels.

Parents making these kinds of decisions and not talking them through with their kids is just mean, childish and indefensible.
