Another snow day

Agree. When you have little kids you don't think of this but for high school kids, there is always a lot going on after school and in evenings and it's annoying to reschedule all of it. And it's just so unnecessary in this situation, roads will be fine mid-day.

I mean, who cares what it’s like mid-day tomorrow? Even with a two hour delay, middle school kids are boarding buses well before 9 am. The snow having melted at noon doesn’t really help….

I think some people think kids could navigate an inch or two of snow on a sidewalk in broad daylight and it would be ok because all would be clear by end of day. Not the ethos around here.

Fair enough. Though our road is still (again) snow-covered, despite passes by a plow already. I can see not wanting busses on that in the morning.

no they didn't. a bunch of schools weren't even plowed out yet. how were they suposed to open?

Yeah they did at the next school board meeting. For poor communication. Because many people were shocked they were closed Monday after they had plenty of time to plow their schools out and hadn’t done it and after they did nothing all weekend and still waited until late Sunday afternoon to notify of closure.

no the complainers at the school board meeting looked ridiculous. APS had to listen politely but I bet they were smirking internally - like at the lady who went there in person to complain that her kids' school should have opened even though 6 schools lots weren't even plowed yet. Insanity.

I hope people will be more patient this time, but I know they wont.

Don't you have an OPEN UP NOW sign you can get out of your garage?

It's just APE who is up in arms, and the supe had to try to placate them by saying he'd communicate better next time about why they couldn't open. because the APE's need full info about every little thing!!!

Hi APE! I’ll stop when you get the h*ll out of our schools. Remind me who funds you again?

I think this is a case where a two hour delay and closing are both reasonable calls, but of course it’s hard to know that the night before

I’m guessing we have 3 inches near VHC and we’re walkers. So it would have been rough for anyone who couldn’t drive their kid this am. Not a terrible call given the timing of the storm.

I also wish we could have afternoon sports but the optics aren’t great on that. Tho, during snowcrete my kids had games in schools on the weekend and then school was closed Monday so who knows.

I am going to start reporting these posts. Don’t you have FB to do this. Please believe many people discuss these issues who pay zero attention to APE. I know who they are only became of the people on here obsessed with them. If you dislike them so much, stop giving them so much free PR.

I agree and they’re never going back to the early morning calls it seems.
