Historically, they seem to have sent them to some high-stats kids, although not all. Not getting one is not an indication that you aren’t getting in. Only one-quarter of accepted students get them.

Do you mean that not all high stats kids get them or that not everyone who receives one has high stats?

DP: Not all high stats kids get them. Maybe only 1000 admitted students

So it’s just that the cypher is on the card?
Why not just call it a likely card?

My kid is getting one of these cards today as per USPS informed delivery! Public HS in MD.

Mine too! We’re in NoVA (FCPS). Already in at UVA (early action) but kid is thrilled because they also like W&M a lot.

Got ours in the mail today! So cool!

My kid from Carroll County, MD got one yesterday. He did not submit test scores. Of course, he had APs and the grades, but I think his selling points were his main essay and supplemental essays that spoke to W&M's values and mission, without him having to force it--by just being himself. That, and a really beautiful activities list.

Awesome!

I do think the AO’s have so much experience that they can sense a passionate kid.

Everyone? No one’s looking. And like half the class is in the dean’s list.

WM is much more grade inflated than it used to be! Below 3.65 is below average

UVA is about 3.6.

Have to keep up with the inflation at Harvard and Brown.

Wow! 50th percentile was a 3.2 a couple decades ago. Good to know.
