Are people okay with losing friends over politics

Among his other destruction outlined in this thread, his administration is bringing preventable disease back the to the U.S. and he can’t even pronounce acetaminophen. MADA - Make America Dead Again.

To have friends you have to be a friend.

If you want my family deported because you believe a convicted felon rapist who tells you they are rapists who eat cats and dogs, then you aren't being my friend.

This. A vote for trump the second time was a vote for cruelty and a vote against everything decent and humane.

according to my friends logic: if you eat mcdonalds almost everyday of the week, you are conservative, and if you drink starbucks four times a week, you’re a liberal

This why we can't tell anyone who we voted for....

Her best friend has some Trump flags in her room, and now my daughter doesn’t want to be friends with her anymore because of it. I told her that it should be okay—that differences in political views shouldn’t end a friendship, especially since they’ve been close friends since kindergarten.

The girl is also losing many of her friends for the same reason. I even spoke with her mom. Most of the friend group is Latinas, so SHE NOT RACIST. but they keep telling she likes a "PDF" and a racist. m

How can I help my daughter understand that it’s okay to have different views, and how can I help the kids stop treating her friend this way?

Do you have a lot of friends that have different political views?

If you have a daughter you should have cared who won this election-as a mother of daughters I will never vote for a republican. I want them to have the rights the strong courageous women before us fought hard for. It's amazing how many women are so blind to what is happening. Project 2025 is real. Read up.

How anyone with a half a brain could have voted for him after the insurrection on January 6th is beyond me. And yes I've cut people out and have no regrets.

The man is promoting medbeds. Why don't MAGAS care about his con man stunts? An obvious con product. Why is the POTUS promoting it?

I call troll.

I don't think it's a troll. People are feeling guilty. I have a friend....who I have cut out and I know she knows why and she is always saying how terrible it is for friends to cancel friends over politics. I told her this election was not about politics. It was about good vs. evil and if you voted for evil then we can't be friends.

Continuing to politely engage or maintain relationships now with trump supporters is increasingly hard as it really does come down to ones values.

Trump, Vance, et all openly state they “ hate”, they have violated our constitutional rights of free speech, have racist followers they openly support, fire people based on loyalty, seek retribution on a level that can only be described as cruel - no other purpose. Lie and gaslight from the podium.

It’s just really hard to look at people the same who can continue to support an administration this corrupt and cruel. It makes me so sad and all I can think of is these are likely the same kinds of people who turned the other way or told themselves not so bad during hitler…...When good people do nothing.

Your daughter is a good person doing something- choosing her friends based on her values.

We all want a healthy, safe, prosperous country. Why the admin continually messages we can only get there through hate and illegal power moves. When our own president chooses division over unity no wonder friendships fracture as well.

Before Trump, there was a common understanding of decency, the rule of law, the Constitution etc. Those are all gone now.

For me it's pretty simple. If you voted for and support Trump and his administration, you think I am a lesser person than you. You think I am not deserving of the same rights as you, and that my worth as a citizen does not reach yours.

Why would I be friends with anyone who thinks this way of me?? This isn't a disagreement about tax rates or military spending. This is a disagreement about basic moral character.

Yes, our lib, prog. friends ditched us. Their anger was more important than our friendship I guess. We replaced them.

They didn’t ditch you because of anger. They ditched you because they discovered you were horrible people with horrible values.

Conversely, your support for fascism was more important than your friendship.
