There are lots of complaints about spending the money on a new high school. Meanwhile, I suspect that the $$$ spent on their various legal fees could cover a very sizable chunk of the purchase.

Has anyone FOIA'd legal expenses?

Correct, the law should matter. Thus Title IX the federal statute takes precedence. The 4th Circuit’s attempt and creating public policy from the bench will be overturned. Most school districts in VA understand this and have adjusted their policies accordingly. FCPS and others in NOVA will continue to support the unsupportable. The least they can do is join forces to save taxpayer money on legal fees.

I guess what I don’t understand is do you operate under what you think will happen, or under what currently stands? Isn’t that the issue here? If they changed their policy, wouldn’t that open them up to lawsuits for violating the 4th District’s ruling?

Yup. But, if you watched the "citizen participation" at the Thursday school board meeting, you would think that this was the consensus.

In a non presidential rate, voters tend to favor against the presidential party to give balance to the system. Given the Republican hold all three branches of Federal government and the top three positions (governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general) in the state, the tendency will be stronger than normal.

Also factor in the negative effects of the DOGE Federal spending cuts in Virginia, particular Northern Virginia, the most populous part of the state.

Also factor that Virginia is a blue leaning purple state.

Also factor that Republican gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears is not running a great campaign and the down ballot effects when the office at the top of the ticket performs poorly.

Also factor the horrific job that Trump is doing. Admittedly this bullet point has an ideological bias. The big beautiful bill is/was extremely unpopular. The economy, in my opinion, is in a horrible position with the slowing job market and still rising inflation.

Lastly, as much as some would like to blame Democrats woke leanings as the biggest contributor to the November election, I think inflation caused by the global supply chain from covid and Biden's cognitive decline were bigger factors. Inflation is now on Trump's responsibility. Biden's cognitive decline is no longer an issue with Biden out of office.

Even with all that, Earle-Sears has made huge progress in the polls. That really, really ought to tell you something. It’s not good.
