Looks like the Feds are not taking the bluffs of the NOVA school districts including FCPS over Title IX - https://www.fairfaxtimes.com/articles/feds-move-forward-to-pull-money-from-fcps-for-violating-title-ix/article_56c2261a-1849-4a6d-9ec4-f78571d3381c.html . Will federal funds be withheld? How much is it going to cost FCPS to fight the battle? |
As of now, FCPS and the other LEAs are only required to self-fund and then be reimbursed, rather than receiving funding in advance.
Its not great, but no funding is being cut. This is pure posturing by DOE. |
OP, if you would like to answer your question about how FCPS has spent on their legal expenses thus far for this case, you are welcome to submit a FOIA request.
Paying legal bills is not big secret FCPS is keeping from taxpayers. |
You mean to ask how much is going to cost the taxpayers who fund FCPS? The answer is a fortune! Our property taxes will continue to increase, unless the activists at FCPS pass the bill to ActBlue, which would make more sense. |
I am glad FCPS prioritizes DEI, Illegal Immigration, Climate Change and Gaza and not narrowly focused on K-12 education. |
The problem is they focus on everything but K-12 education. |
This Administration are the ones who are bluffing, attempting to use the threat of cutting off Federal funding to coerce policy changes that align with their political view. As far as the legal aspect, prior court rulings suggest its FCPS who is likely to prevail should the Feds pursue a case (and/or illegally deny funding), so if you are worried about an unnecessary waste of legal dollars, you can direct your ire to the current political [s]leaders[/s] people in positions of authority at DOE. |
FCPS $160,000,000 |
4th circuit ruling will be overturned by the SC. Gender identity will not be viewed as a protected class. Title IX’s protection of woman will be upheld. |
This. And, the base will be satisfied with our School Board because they "stood up" to the Feds and the Feds shut them down. |
Amen to that. |
Key words (future tense) in bold. |
What prior court rulings are you talking about? |
Ultimately that may be true but they will probably have violated due process. You can't really just defund appropriated funds based on an unsettled legal question. The defunding has to take place after due process. That is the problem with most of trump's actions. They circumvent due process, in some cases it's just the circumvention of a notice period but in cases like this, they have not established the basis for the defunding and they are discriminating based on policy differences that are not in the funding legislation. The federal government has to win a lawsuit at some point before they can do this. |
This. and it’s trans students now. Who is next? You think Trump will stop there? Wake up. This is not about helping people. It’s about inflicting pain and misery. |
