Which is why everyone is coming in sick. |
I'm not a fed and work for a smaller company (<100 people). The process you are describing does not exist in my LMC world. |
I’m a fed and I doubt that process even exists for Feds. |
No, not everyone. And even if that were true, it makes zero sense. |

My second job was a Union company that let you take up to 5 sick days a year with zero effect. We had ten sick days a year.
If five or under sick days you got one extra vacation day the next year. Well everyone came in sick all year long as no one wanted to use a day as worried they would break five which was a slight ding and no one wanted to go over ten. So people come in flu or pink etc. Then almost entire Union Staff would call in "sick" the last five days of year and use it as vacation. Some had balls to use last five days as sick days and take day after new years as their bonus day for calling in less than six days year before and start year after a long vscation with out using days. they should get rid of sick days. Just give everyone five extra vacation days. |
In an environment where OPM is trying to fire us all, it makes perfect sense to come in sick. I understand that agencies may differ in their feelings of oversight and job security. |

Going to work.
Pre-COVID and after maternity leave when I had no sick leave whatsoever, I routinely went to work sick. Once did a witness interview with a 103.5 fever. It’s a messed up culture |
Again, you’re a petulant child. Grow up. |
Yes, making sure I feed my family is being a petulant child. Not everyone has your financial security. This is really crabs in a bucket, though. |
The pink eye is tough, kids get it at school and it spreads at home and then you really don't have a choice but to go to work and then it spreads around there too. I guess it's not all that bad though and it goes away after a few days. |
You have sick leave. OPM didn't take that away from you. No one is going to fire you if you use it. If they do, you were going to get fired anyway, and no amount of coming in sick and spreading it to everyone else was going to save your job. |
Sure thing! Treatment of people is definitely following predictable patterns, laws, and norms! |
The potential to be fired is actually a good reason to use your sick leave, since it is not paid out upon separation. |
You're proving my point. Going in to prove what a good worker bee you are is pretty much pointless since they aren't following any kind of logic of who actually gets fired. |
What agency and office are you? |
