So what is everyone doing when you have a head cold and no telework?

Why would you feel guilty about taking sick days? That's what sick leave is for--RTO is irrelevant. You should feel guilty about coming into office and coughing all over the place. No one wants your germs.

I literally said “I feel guilty coughing in my cube”? I think you misunderstood me - we said the same thing.

I now take sick leave, since I have it.

If I had to ration sick leave I would go to work.

This is one of the reasons I still wear a mask at work-i know a lot of people are sick and don't have the leave to stay home.

Then stay home. I really hate it when obviously sick coworkers come in. If you have some sort of life and death job, fine. But if you're a run of the mill office worker, you're not so important that you should be spreading your illness in your office.

I stay home.

I also plan all my doctors appointment appointments around 12 o’clock and take the whole day.

Right so back to my question. For how long? What if I am coughing for a week or more?

Unfortunately, I would or have to go back into the office after a week and just cough my head off for the next few weeks, since that's how long it usually takes me to recover from a head cold.

OP, a related question:

If your child has a cough that last two weeks, would you consider keeping them home from school?

I resigned (fork) but my DH now stays home. Where he and I would’ve simply continued working for all a or part of the day, no longer. Not sorry.

Another veteran teacher. Unless you are saving up time for maternity leave or if you have kids, use your sick days. I have well over 100 sick days because I pushed myself for no reason. Now I’m using them but I shouldn’t have forced myself to go into work really sick.

You should go in and make everyone sick. They want feds to quit and this might make them quit.
Anonymous
Depends. If it's just an inconvenience to me and I feel like I can be somewhat comfortable with meds, I go in. If not - if I'm coughing up a lung - I stay home.

sick day.

I would take sick leave for the worst if it, then go in with a mask.

OP are you an adult? Not sure why you’re crowdsourcing this? Are you feeling poorly or just coughing? Have you seen a doctor? I had a lingering cough last year and went to a nifty professional location called the doctor’s office and got some medicine that got rid of it.
