I run in these circles and no, we aren’t allowing our kids to be indoctrinated at those schools. We are wealthy and connected already and don’t need to have our kids mix and mingle at northeast elite colleges where they have no intention of making their lives. Back in the day, Ivy etc was all about networking and maybe spending years in Chicago or NY etc but now we feel the cohorts there aren’t people valuable to get to know.

My salary working for non profits ranged from: volunteer to 65K. Very few non-profit staff earn even a fraction of what they could easily earn in the for-profit sector.

Is that right? Which private sector jobs would they be suited to?

Welll, my colleagues from that time went on to work at consulting firms, law firms and some run their own businesses. But, you know, I'm sure you're very familiar with people who've worked at non-profits and then moved into the private sector, so why don't you tell me some of the examples you know. If you know non-profit staff, you know that most do that work from around age 20-30 and then move on.

I work in high-level recruiting. Many, many of the biggest companies in the DMV area have blanket bans on grads from Liberty Univ, Patrick Henry College (the FBI loves this place, tho), Bob Jones Univ, Appalachian Bible College, and Grand Canyon Univ.

Liberty is a basically a Megachurch merged with a university. For some reason the evangelical schools don’t push out the same level of excellence as the BYU/Mormons and the Catholic universities.

Wealthy MAGA here also, and this is exactly right. Short of some kind of Shakespearean tragedy, my kids have access to the best networks. They have jobs waiting for them due to family connections. We are looking for schools that will teach them to make good decisions, to work hard, and to present well. You cannot find such an education at the Ivys right now. They are dedicated to churning out zealots. And I say this as an Ivy Leaguer. Those schools have absolutely nothing to offer us anymore.
