Will conservatives stop sending kids to college?

That's fine. Let conservatives diminish what wealth they have by letting current and future generations close the door to higher education. I have no problem with that.

Also if you are super conservative and your kid got into an Ivy League school will you refuse to let them go?

Yes, super easy. Yay!

Those podcasters are correct that we don't have enough people going to the skilled trades. College has become so glorified that working class people will put themselves into debt to send their kid to get a communications degree at some backwater college. If they went into electrician work, welding, etc, they would have less debt and a higher income than if they went to college. That is just reality and people should know it.

Lol no they didn’t. Such a cope.

The fact of the matter is that most wealthy & UMC American high school students don’t have the chops to get into the Ivies these days. Too coddled by parents, too soft by family money, no grinder mindset, no real adversity ever faced in life.

I really wish Harvard would just institute a hard SAT requirement for the next 4 years. 1580 minimum. Just absolutely nuke all the rich kids from the applicant po

Our tristate area Jewish friends did. But you can think whatever you want, esp if you don’t even have teens right now.

Not smart enough to outfox the Asian & Eastern European grinders, not rich enough to donate more than the foreign money. The Jewish-American families are pissed off; it’s why Ackmann is up in arms about declining Jewish student numbers. But let’s face it - rich American kids these days dont work hard in high school. They are more consumer with social media and jetsetting.

Look at what the Trump admin is asking of these schools: they want the federal government to control who gets admitted, hired, and what is taught. Nanny State Conservatives want total control of higher education.

No, let's just continue to follow your model.

Get degrees in social justice and afro-centric studies, not be able to be employed with commensurate pay, and then gripe to the tax payers about your school debt.

The Democrat's lack of self awareness is stunning.

Touche

Sure as F wouldn’t want to be in the grant donation dept at those soft major schools.

+1 regular middle class conservatives weren’t going to the ivies in the first place. The real test to see if non country club conservatives are skipping college is if their numbers decline at state schools.

Conservatives are the ones fighting against the discrimination of Asians in schools, from TJ to colleges.

Agree

This stuff is so obvious yet the comments here are beyond ignorant.

What happened at GW?!

The graduation ceremony had a student who went off the program and had some words about Palestine. They have banned her from campus, but did not revoke her degree. Slap on the wrist.
Frankly. I don’t know how effective these types of things are for helping Palestine.

Maybe she can move there and save all the moms and their 6 always-starving kids whilst Hamas meets under their house in a tunnel.

People here would probably puke in their mouth if they saw their electrician’s tax return. Those in the trades make a lot of money.

They go through the UMC motions pushed by their type A parents that can afford to live in Bethesda. They were born on 3rd base. They don’t have the immigrant mentality to grind until you make it because they have already made it

And conservatives are mad about it

No they’re actually not.

Half the ivy’s are rinky dinky in grade size. It’s not like all the millions of alums will ever get one kid into them.

They just make a statistically diverse quirky class each year and vastly strayed from their missions and budgets the last 10 years. That’s why we now only donate the $1 We’re watching you amount.

Will conservatives to Harvard and study Gender or Racism studies?

Have they ever?

The big donors at Harvard the last 50 years really in finance, investing, o&G, life sciences, or tech.

Maybe Obama’s donate to the H law school but they’re career activists living off the govt dole or book royalties.

Wow, you really have no clue.

Wealthy MAGA have inherited money and go to elite colleges.

This is the point right here. They will continue to send there kids to elite colleges while the idiots who are worshipping them don’t. Wealthy MAGA are making things easier for themselves.

I run in these circles and no, we aren’t allowing our kids to be indoctrinated at those schools. We are wealthy and connected already and don’t need to have our kids mix and mingle at northeast elite colleges where they have no intention of making their lives. Back in the day, Ivy etc was all about networking and maybe spending years in Chicago or NY etc but now we feel the cohorts there aren’t people valuable to get to know.

Good point. Having a “network” of whiny victim protestor no-income alums who can’t write or do math ain’t where it’s at.

This is absolute BS.

99.99% of human beings, if they have a shot going to Harvard, will go to Harvard. The number of people who could go to Harvard, are republican, have money to afford Harvard, and care enough about this Petty BS to then decide not to go to Harvard is so minuscule as to be completely irrelevant to anything ever.

Except the SAT is only a measure of how well one takes the SAT. It is not a measure of "grit" or smarts.

It's quite hilarious to me that conservatives persist in their notions that things like "gender studies" represent any meaningful percentage of the academic offerings and enrollments at universities.

It's comments like that which betray conservatives as to being out of touch with reality and mainly just getting most of their "information" from right wing talking heads.

Love to see the data on undergrad degrees by major at Harvard each of the last fifteen years.

I understand they only have applied math and sciences and BA degrees, correct? Any Bach of Science degree programs in undergrad?

We do take note of indications of anti-white bias or anti-wealth bias, and generally speaking, more conservative campuses are free of this. Our kids deserve to be in an environment where they are welcome and included. We visited one state college in the south and eliminated it as an option based on the tour guide's repeated emphasis on all the offices and services devoted to minority students (I don't see why my kids should be the only race on campus not to receive these services- we will pay the same tuition and deserve the same services).

So you want to propagate the racism and discrimination of peak Jim Crow era. Got it.
