Boundary study (2025 )

How do you all think this is going to affect the Northwest, Clarksburg, Seneca Valley, and Damascus current boundaries?

I believe Damascus's addition is being justified as a way to handle Clarksburg's considerable overcrowding.

Yes, if Damascus decides to expand and then if Poolesville changes it’s boundary and there’s an increase or decrease of size, then it would most likely crown Rockville as the smallest HS in the county instead. I wouldn’t be surprised. Ever since living here in MoCo since 2007 I always thought Rockville was the smallest.

Why don’t they demolish it? I have 10 friends who have kids and I never heard one of them going to or planning to go to Rockville…

What in the world... Your friends don't live in the RHS cluster so we should just demolish a whole school? Ok, Elon.

I agree with Laytonsville going to Damascus. Gaithersburg’s service map really confuses me. It shouldn’t serve that up north of the county. Same thing with Goshen. Map for reference below.

Jesus, Gaithersburg’s cluster map looks horrendous. It shouldn’t even go far as closer to Damascus area near the Woodfield area of that school.

Remember that proximity is not the only factor being considered.

A couple of ESs are already split between Clarksburg and Damascus, so having them reassigned entirely to Damascus could be an option.

Proximity/geography, stability of assignment over time, capacity and facility utilization, and student demographics are the four factors.

If you live in the following clusters, the Woodward study may affect you:
Bethesda Chevy-Chase
Montgomery Blair
Albert Einstein
Walter Johnson
John F. Kennedy
Northwood
Wheaton
Walt Whitman

If you live in the following clusters, the Crown/Damascus study may affect you:
Winston Churchill
Clarksburg
Damascus
Gaithersburg
Richard Montgomery
Northwest
Poolesville
Quince Orchard
Seneca Valley
Watkins Mill
Thomas S. Wootton

Yes, but it will only directly affect the adjacent schools like WJ, Einstein and BCC.

No, any school from either list may end up with new boundaries, but not necessarily rezoned to Woodward or Crown.

Doubt Whitman families are going to want BCC. Or would they???

I think Whitman students more likely to get assigned to WJ vs BCC.

+1. To backfill as all of Tilden goes to Woodward.

Seeing that elementaries are staying the same the most logical predictive practice would be to guess which schools get reassigned. Bradley hills might logistically make sense to WJ but its all guessing
