Yes, if Damascus decides to expand and then if Poolesville changes it’s boundary and there’s an increase or decrease of size, then it would most likely crown Rockville as the smallest HS in the county instead. I wouldn’t be surprised. Ever since living here in MoCo since 2007 I always thought Rockville was the smallest.

Why don’t they demolish it? I have 10 friends who have kids and I never heard one of them going to or planning to go to Rockville…

Demolish a high school? And what, sell the property? We will need that resource at some point when the county starts growing again. Jerry West sold off a lot of school properties and that was a bad move.

They should just relocate instead of demolishing. I guess people still think about the rape case everyday at that school. Utterly horrendous how one sexual assault can harm a school’s reputation and environment so badly. It’s like the schools legacy in the worst note possible.

No, no we don’t. We’ve moved on because that happened eight years ago and most of our kids were in kindergarten then. We’re good. We don’t need your help nor your opinions. Just ignore our little school like usual. We like it that way.

You’re just a random DCUM guy who has a hero complex. At the end of the day, the sexual assault still traumatizes many alumni of that school. In the end, I feel very bad for your school cluster’s community. Looks like your school needs a relocation and redevelopment in the boundary change.

Blair should have some of Northwood’s portions of it’s current cluster.

It'll be the other way around. Northwood will have lots of seats to fill when the new building opens, and Blair is very overcrowded.

And MS is Cabin John currently would they then go Cabin John Crown... However students from Crown area already go to Wootton so maybe one of the best choices except Wootton is not over crowded.
Another thought
Dufief Elementary should go to Crown easy access for busing. Same with Stonemill easy access.

They are the closest elementaries but MS not so much.

What do I know...

Logistics has never been a strong suit for MCPS.

How much risk is there that Travilah Elementary switches from Wootton to Crown? I’m thinking about moving there and am considering whether to wait a year to be sure my kids can go to Wootton.

It's certainly possible Travilah could be assigned to Crown, or even QO, or stay at Wootton. No one can tell you "how much risk" there is.

Rockville doesn’t need boundary changes. It’s like you had a bad experience in this school based on what you just said. I would more feel bad than how that school clusters community feels with DCUM hating on it so much.

We would eventually have the Magruder shooting years later, and you would compare that worse than what happened at Rockville? Use your critical thinking skills and knowledge.

Can we please try to stay on topic. Neither Rockville nor Magruder clusters are part of either boundary study scope.

Focus, people, focus...boundaries ...boundary study. Take your side conversations to another thread or start a new one.

My kids are in a cluster that will definitely be affected. And my take is that no matter what, it will be ok. Crown will have a brand new building, so I’d be pleased if that’s where they end up. They could end up at a less desirable school, but I still think they will find there people and the right classes for them at that school.

As a Wootton parent I am not sure why you would do this. Crown will be brand new and beautiful with kids from the Wootton cluster. I would love to get changed to Crown.

Don't feel bad. I can assure you that we DGAF. Enjoy your boundary changes, y'all.

I could have said this myself! I think many people don't realize that many of these schools are the same. If the kids from the neighborhood go with you it really won't make that much of a difference.

Unless those famiies decide to move homes, as a poster or two have said.
