No that's not what was just said. This is why critical thinking is important. College coaches watch the PLAYERS who have sparked their interest in advance by sending them emails and video before an event. Some teams have more players who can spark interest ahead of events. Those players tend to collect together onto teams which is what makes those teams win more games. But coaches are not interested in them BECAUSE they play on winning teams. It's because they are good players who do the things needed to attract interest.

Thought experiment: If you took one of those good players from a winning team and moved them to a losing team, they would still have good highlights to send coaches and attract interest before the event, so they would still come watch them in person. Similarly, if you took a non exceptional player from a losing team and put them on the winning team, the coaches would still not be interested in watching them because their highlight reels would still not interest them. Team/club/record does not matter.

The club and club’s reputation matter. The coach’s reputation matters. Coaches also care about what clubs players come from because there’s development happening after player commits to a college.

Development stops actually.

Once you’re in college you’re playing to win, not develop.

I think college coaches would disagree.

What I meant was there’s development after the player commits to college and before they start playing college soccer.

2008s, 2009s and 2010s should stay in ECNL as they'll remain the dominate league for the next year or so - basically by the time they get recruited.

2011s - this is a tough group to choose. I'd lean GA though.

2012s, 2013s and younger - they should definitely go GA, GA should surpass GA as the dominate league in 3~4 years.

The rumored 2011 player movement for next year (with FVU, VDA and Arlington skimming off the top of departing teams' rosters) wouldn't support leaning GA for the 2011 age group in the DMV area. Also yet to be seen whether all the clubs in Louduon can keep GA1 or get sent to Aspire next year. But GA probably the better choice than RL at this point for 11s.

Id have to agree on the last part when I look at GA vs RL for this age. If you look at top, middle and bottom you get this.

Top: SYC is 7th in the state and 3rd (of 14) in league Standings.
Middle: VRSC is 8th in state and 10th in league.
Bottom: TSJ is 24th in state and 12th in league standings.

RL
Top: Arlington is 10th in the state and 1st (of 12) in league standings.
Middle: Loudoun is 23rd in state and 6th in league standings.
Bottoms: BRYC is 49th in the state and 10th in league standings

You’re just looking at standings in the app. Actually click on the team and look at results. SYC got beat by a bunch of RL teams. VRSC loss, tied, and won. If the goal is GA to compete with ECNL those teams need to be beating RL teams.

Will ECNL realign the mid Atlantic conference? 10 clubs, possible loss of another playoff spot. Maybe they will add the two SC teams back in the conference.

Does not matter. As soon as you build it people will come. The parents only care about getting in to college not which team is winning. If GA offers a path way look for players to go there.

Yall realize Arlington has applied for MLSNext as well. They will announce next season. Which also means GA for them. Bethesda also being forced to pick between ECNL and MLSNext\GA. You know what they will pick. VDA will likely join then fold then.

If Arlington applied for MLSN why does it take a year to implement? ECNL took one of CISC’s losing ECNL boys teams just over a month ago, the CEO had a tantrum and pulled the whole club from ECNL and ECRL, and got MLSN and GA in a month.

Yes, they folded because the mid Atlantic is a mess with all their alliances and unions. The rest of the country figured out how to merge clubs, provide pathways but this area is special.

what is false? They tried this year but were late to apply. Its happening after next season.

This isn’t 1995. Colleges don’t attract top talent coaches. Most college coaches CANT develop athletes. They’d disagree, but they are clearly below the top tier club coaches in the pecking order.

All one would have to do is move the top 3 players from a “winning” team to a “losing” team. The losing team would suddenly win and everyone on the former losing team would look better. Think if you lost the top three players on your team to injury or they were sick for tournament. How would your kids team do? After the top 2-3 players everyone else is just the rest of the team easily replaced.

There is a reason they say it takes 8 piano movers and three piano players for a good team. Only the piano players matter.
