ECNL strongest in the south & west, with GA stronger in the east? Kind of makes sense since majority of colleges recruit regionally, other than the top 25 programs from the P4 conferences.

GA stronger in the east? How?

Not stronger than ECNL. Just pointing out that GA east is currently stronger than GA west. In MA/CT/NY/NJ the difference between ECNL and GA clubs is not huge, closer than the rest of the country. Mid atlantic would extend that beyond northeast.

Most of the talent & high level recruits in those areas is still ECNL, but there are enough high level athletes to make some great GA teams. The tier still holds ECNL > GA.

Calm down ECNL dad. Nobody is saying ECNL is not higher tier than GA today. You can put your hat back on. This was just a discussion of how GA is spreading from their strongest region (northeast) to mid atlantic. This _could_ result in an eventual regionalization of college recruiting platforms. Colleges in the east would gravitate toward GA in the east for recruiting and ECNL in the south and west. The idea is since college recruiting is largely regional (outside of a small subset of colleges), maybe we don't need multiple big national leagues.

Most colleges in the east don't need to go across the country to national events to recruit players from their own region. That's what they do today. It may not stay that way.

Appreciate the well reasoned response.

Also, no hat and playing these GA teams regularly in friendlies shows how much talent is around.

Works well for ECNL DMV teams.

The problem is HS soccer. MD and VA have different HS soccer seasons. MD matches up with PA and NJ.

Why do MD and VA have different high school soccer seasons?

Because football in VA is more important than football in MD.

Not sure what "football" you're talking about but US football is pretty damn big in MD/PA/NJ as well. The seasons have been that way forever.

Football in MD/PA/NJ is big but not as big as in the south. Soccer in the fall means soccer players cannot play football too (some actually do), competing for field space

Good move for GA and ECNL. Too many ECNL teams in Charolette. This was the worst. Makes both leagues stronger.

The thing is it wasn’t a move made by ECNL. The move was made by the clubs to get out of ECNL. How many more clubs will leave ECNL for GA/MLSN?

Arlington will take MLS next, the mid Atlantic is hanging on by a thread

Heard NC Fusion is next. Not that these clubs are powerhouses but losing multiple teams is not ideal.

Maybe CSA/RU get large enough to have two ECNL teams that can be competitive. Just a thought.
