OPM Asking For List of Probationary Employees

Anonymous
Like someone said earlier if you're a new sup on probation instead of being fired you're basically back at your old position. Happened to me when I had to demote a new sup that wasn't performing.

She looks like a Musk person.

Absolutely. After UC Davis, she worked in HR at Uber.

And then at X.

So a new supervisor in probationary period will NOT be on the “list” to be sent on January 24 if the person would NOT be on the “list” if there was not a promotion?

Exactly. It's the people over 50 years old that are typically the problem.

You need to read up on ageism.

That's funny. Do you think the rule of law applies anymore?

Why hasn’t anyone paid attention to the 50k foias that the heritage foundation put in? They have been asking for lists of DEI etc.

They are not OPM. They do not have the same power as OPM.

I hope not!

I'm actually on supervisory probation after more than two years thanks to HR. In my last job (first supervisory position) I never was put on the official supervisory probation period, even though I was there for 3 years. Took a promotion, HR finished updating the PD months after I started, and THEN put me on the one year supervisory probation. So I'm still on it for a couple more months after FOUR YEARS of supervision just because nobody checked the box.

Annual reviews have been great, but my old job is full now, there's nowhere to demote me. So I just hope I'm not on a firing list thanks to HR slow walking this "probation."

My just-graduated from college kid is 7 months in to his 1 year probation at the Department of the Navy. It will be real kick in the groin to get fired over this. As far as I know, he's doing well, but apparently that may not matter

Department of the Navy will be fine, I imagine.

If it’s an internal promotion. What happens if you left another agency or commercial to be promoted? My new supervisor was an outside hire. I feel bad for her. She started last Tuesday.

Your official HR hiring documentation will say if you are on probation. The probation is one year.

What is "official HR hiring documentation"? USAJOBS job announcement?

Check your most recent SF-50

Which box on SF-50 says you're probationary or not?

Your first SF-50 with the job is the "executive appointment." Box 45 "remarks" of that SF-50 will say what probationary period is associated with the appointment.

My spouse is a civilian working for Navy and things aren't looking great there either. They're looking at losing people.

You should be concerned about this from a national security perspective.

Is this universal? Our agency's box 45 only has remarks on pay increase.

NP, it may depend on what the sf-50 is for - what action was taken; you may need to look at you exec appt sf-50 and not an sf-50 that was issued for a general adjustment

IMO it is maddening that this is so unclear. I should not be probationary anymore based on what I’ve been told but what if the sf-50 hasn’t been created? Our HR/sf-50s are often created months after the effective date
