Well have you been performing well? Your agency has the discretion to keep you. |
| People really think these firings will be based on performance? DOGE was discussing a month ago their proposal to simply fire every employee still in probation. |
It isn't even close to being as difficult. You need to document a reason, but you don't need to do a PIP. |
It's an obvious smokescreen to avoid legal problems with mass firing probationary employees, which they'll do. |
How does this play out do you think? Will OPM actually let folks go? Will they direct agency heads to do it? Does it get pushed down to supervisors? Will they get a script? Hard to imagine how this will go down in my office. |
I suspect they'll mass fire. Be taken to court. And rely on this language suggesting there was some sort of individualized determination and people weren't fired simply for the status as probationary employees. |
The memo asks for the agency's recommendation. Kinda hard to recommend keeping someone who got a 1 or 2 on their eval. |
| Where do I look to see if I'm on probation? Is it on my SF50? I don't actually know because I took a transfer within my agency, and I don't know if my new job came with a new probationary period. I certainly hope not. |
| Are internal transfers to new positions probationary employees? DH transferred to a new office within his agency 3 months ago. Is him a probationary employee? |
I’m so new I haven’t even had an evaluation yet. What will that mean for me? |
At my agency you would be on a new probationary period. I just became a manager (same office I’ve been working for 15 years) and I was told that I am on a probationary period for one year. WTF?? |
I was not probationary when I transferred to a different agency without a break in service |
|
I think my agency’s probationary period was raised to 2 years.

Bookmark this if you're on probation. |
That’s because you became supervisory. Regular transfers don’t usually restart the probationary period. |
