I think it depends on whether your DH's new position is same or similar to his previous position.

How do you determine if the new position is same or similar to previous position? Previous position was a gs13 non-supervisory attorney, and new position is a gs14 non-supervisory attorney.

Are his current duties and specialty same or similar to his previous position? If they’re not same or similar, your DH may need to restart his trial period.

On your SF-50, there's a box that has choices for permanent, conditional, and two other choices. I am assuming if you're on probation it says conditional.

No, conditional is different from probation.

Me too. So sad.

My probation is one year, but I’ve worked at agencies where it is two years.

Your official HR hiring documentation will say if you are on probation. The probation is one year.

What is "official HR hiring documentation"? USAJOBS job announcement?

Me too. How the heck am I supposed to work tomorrow? I’ve worked for the feds for 20 years but just switched agencies. Darn.

At my agency you would be on a new probationary period. I just became a manager (same office I’ve been working for 15 years) and I was told that I am on a probationary period for one year. WTF??

You’re not probationary as a fed, just as a supervisor. If you don’t pass probation, they’d have to put you back in your non supervisory or similar role.

That doesn't mean you're probationary just because you switched agencies. In fact, it's normal to just have one probationary period, although some agencies make everyone (transfers and new hires) go through a probationary period. You should check.

Then you should not have had to start a new probationary. Period.

Which box on SF-50 says you're probationary or not?
