MCPS delayed Wednesday?

Superintendent needs to spend less time making rap videos and more time shoveling.

Oh, that's odd! Likely in the process of updating, but could be a typo.

Closed. It’s on the MCPS page.

Does anyone know how they make that decision (versus requiring child care to be closed like today), and whether they'll at least be able to do that?

I think sidewalks need to be cleaned.

Right but sidewalks don't need to be cleared at every school because individual childcare programs can choose to open or close based on local conditions (unlike schools where obviously you need 100% of schools to be ready to open in order for it to be a school day ). How do they decide if childcare and offices can be open?

Unlikely, it says Wednesday 1/8

I'm seeing the closure announced on county sites, but I haven't gotten all the texts and emails. What about you all?
Anonymous
I'll wait for text and email confirmation.

Good call and I’m glad they announced early.

Sorry to anyone who begrudges the kids having one more day of sledding.

You could spend less time on dcum and go shovel the school.

That said, there is a lot of variation from street to street in the neighborhood. Some have been plowed and others have not. Whittier (the main road in front of Whitman) is clear, but some surrounding streets, including my own, are not.

Unless MoCo can really get all of these streets plowed today, I am guessing closed again tomorrow.

Cars and buses can drive on snow and ice

You spelled “the laziness of parents desperate to be rid of their kids under any and all weather conditions” wrong.

Just got the text from Alert MCPS. Interesting addendum to their message about people leaving their vehicles in school parking lots and impeding clearing efforts. I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened, but it's the first we're hearing about it. People will be mad about their decisions either way but I definitely notice a change with some of these missives in terms of more information on WHY there is a closure.
