I'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened, but it's the first we're hearing about it. People will be mad about their decisions either way but I definitely notice a change with some of these missives in terms of more information on WHY there is a closure.

This is common where schools are close to low income apartment complexes.

Any time moco has more than 5 inches of snow you should plan on a minimum of 2 days off. Plan for 3 days and a delay on the 4th. It is what it is.

A lot of side streets are a slushy sloppy mess and will be an ice slick in the morning. For walkers, all of the sidewalks have big piles of snow at the corners where children cannot safely pass. It's a mess out there.

Let the make up day betting begin!

Mcps made the right call.

Kids can't wait at bus stops yet without standing in traffic. Not safe for all walkers. Some schools are not plowed (yeah, I know). That's why.

Oh, that's not true on your street? Oh. I must be wrong about all the other thousands of bus stops and sidewalks then! My bad!

Sidewalks need to be cleared within 24 hours of the end of snowfall. This is a sorry excuse. If people aren't complying, clear it for them and send them the bill.

I am glad it’s closed tomorrow.
As a teacher who commutes over an hour to my school, it’s very scary skidding and sliding multiple times on roads with black ice because brakes simply don’t work.

I am genuinely sorry that you had to do that, but I didn't, and I don't want my kid doing it, and for that matter don't want others doing it either, especially those who live on large roads or busy roads.
