Private & Independent Schools
+1 There’s a standard for a reason and there is pressure on kids to fit in with the crowd pushing the limits the most. If you aren’t going to uphold the standard for dress (or cheating or whatever) remove it from the student handbook. Otherwise, it seems to me the school is false advertising. |
Those are also examples of gross behavior by adults toward adolescents. It’s not gender-specific. |
| Simply no class. I hate butt cheeks. I don’t even want to see them at the gym, much less a rando teenager walking down the street in a barely there Catholic uniform. I blame the parents because they must see how their daughters look. |
Why specifically Catholic? |
| Isn't this an issue for parents to deal with? |
|
And how are parents going to enforce a school rule at school?
|
If the parents don't want their DDs to wear such short skirts, they should be the ones telling them so. |
Easy. Parents tell their DDs they cannot wear such short skirts. I guess some parents want schools to do the dirty work for them. |
Oh my. And how, pray tell, do you suggest the parents enforce this? Cannot wait for this answer. |
Look at your kid before she leaves for school and tell her yes or no. Was the answer worth the wait? |
I mean, don't they have a short or pant option. |
Right - how hard can this be? Yes girls may roll their skirts but most of the skirts I see are HEMMED to be this length so a parent is definitely involved and is cool with the exposure. I find it extremely odd that parents see their daughter walking out of the house this way and are totally cool with it. |
You’re looking at these girls’ skirts often enough and closely enough to know they are hemmed short and not just rolled? What is wrong with you people?? Stop staring at children’s butts! |
|
I think the more you can amplify the message to your daughters that short skirts/shorts are drawing the wrong kind of attention from adult men and women, the more they'll be grossed out and hopefully disincentivized to wear them.
And yes, please include women. When I was in high school, we had to shower after class, and the P.E. teachers would hand out towels to us as we got out of the shower. Due to complaints of staring in a creepy manner, the school administration banned the girls' P.E. teacher from doing this job, and forced her out of the locker room during changing times. |
And then she rolls it on the way to school.
