Private & Independent Schools
| I’ve noticed this especially at all girls schools. I mean these skirts barely cover their bottoms. And who are they doing it for? There are no boys around. I don’t like it. |
| Have you seen the length of teen girl shorts? You’d probably need smelling salts and fainting couch. |

Sounds like a troll but I'll bite.
Public schools have dress codes that are minimal at best providing kids a lot of ways to express themselves and even rebel a little bit. Private school dress codes constrain that but kids of both sexes will still find ways. I grew up going to private schools. Short skirts, untucked shirts, guys having untucked shirts or "forgetting" to wear belts were all little ways of self expression. This was the 90s and our dress code even included limits on nail polish color. You were a rebel to try and get away with a pale pink instead of clear. |

They are doing it to attract the eyes of their male friends when roaming off campus… duh
Hate to say it but as a mother in her early 50s we did the same thing - probably not as short as todays standards though |
| Because they’re teenage girls. That’s pretty much it. |
| Girls copy each other. |
| Because skirts look good below the knee or below the butt. Above-knee is flattering for no one. It’s how the hemline falls against a curve. |
Good point. |
+1 I went to an all-girls catholic school, graduating in 1986. We rolled our skirts to make then shorter back then. It's just what you do when you're a teenaged girl forced to wear a uniform. Ha! |
| They wear shorts under them--why do you care? |
wha? Why does it look good right below the butt since that are is wide? |
They all don’t. |
Yes they do. Don’t be ridiculous. |
| Well grandma, I am a boomer and we did this at my all girls Catholic School in the 1970s. You must be a real treat. MYOB + take your misogyny elsewhere. |
| I rolled my skirt in high school, my mom rolled her skirt in high school. You new? |
