I would be willing to bet that you’re not especially pretty, so in your world, any man who notices the girls who are pretty deserves to be called silly names. On a scale of 1-10, what are you? Be honest. |
DP. Oh, there you are. So any woman who thinks men don’t get to tell women what to wear is ugly? Or is it that women who you consider ugly should just shut up? Not a good look, my friend. |
I was being half sarcastic, but please recognize how silly you sound. If a teenage girl wears a short skirt, that is her choice. Nobody made her wear it. to some men she will look pretty, and to others she will looks gross. If a man says she looks pretty, you would say he is a pervert or a creep. if he says she looks gross, you would say that he is mean. And if he says that teenage girls should not wear super short skirts at all, you would say it is their choice and none of his business. So what is a man supposed to say? I assume you would say that in your world, no matter how pretty or how gross a girl looks in her chosen attire, a man should pretend not to notice (or better yet, really not notice) and say nothing - right? |
Only half sarcastic? I am not the person you are calling silly, just the one who pointed out that your previous post was really unfortunate. You can obviously notice whatever you want and think whatever you want. You can “say” whatever you want on an anonymous message board - and people will say whatever they like back to you. Are you truly asking about what you say out loud to anyone in real life about what they are wearing, what their body looks like, and how it does or does not gross you out? That’s easy. You say nothing. |
of course you don't say those things out loud in real life. but this is an anonymous forum that somebody started because (1) teenage girls choose to wear short skirts, and (b) someone in the DCUM world wants to know what people think. what is a man supposed to say to NOT be offensive to you? there are three possible opinions - it looks good, it looks bad, or its not an appropriate look at all. on this thread, men have been slammed and called names for honestly expressing all three views. is there a fourth opinion that you would consider acceptable for a man to hold and to express on an anonymous board such as this? |
| I think we can safely blame this entire phenomenon on Britney Spears, 1998, Hit me Baby One More Time. |
|
actually my wife has a super short schoolgirl skirt that she wears for me in private when we go away for weekend trips - it is probably my favorite thing for her to wear!
if a teenage girl wants to wear that in public, I have to wonder what her parents are thinking, but I don't have to wonder at all what guys of all ages are thinking. |
You're going to get a lot of flak for sexualizing school girls. |
| As a prior poster said, there is a difference between sexy and skanky. It is hard to put into words but classy people just know. It us up to parents (especially the Moms) to educate teenage girls on the difference. |
You asked if a man should say nothing and I said yes, say nothing. I also said anyone can think what they like and “say” what they like on an internet message board. Whatever. Just keep it to yourself in real life. It’s the men who seem to think they get to express their opinions about these things in real life who are offensive. Just behave yourself and I don’t really care what you think. That’s your fourth option, BTW: not my business, I don’t care. |
This all happened 60 years ago when miniskirts and bikinis first came out. Everyone here has just proven how there is nothing new under the sun when it comes to contradictory, convoluted ideologies about the human body. Clearly, accepting it for what it is has not gained much ground in the meantime. Far better to demonize and fetishize and tie everyone in knots instead. |
no, I like the short skirts on my wife, who I assure you is an adult, because they show off HER legs and butt, and she wears them only when we are alone in a hotel room. the fact that 15 year old's wear the same length skirts all over town is their parents' problem, not mine! |
+1 more We rolled ours at my non-Catholic all-girls school too (class of 1995) and wore men’s boxer shorts underneath. Ahh the good old days. We had great legs. |
Pervy much? |
| St John's uniforms are made that way and code. So short! |
