ASA

It’s like they are deliberately cleaning house of internal players, including just cutting players entirely from the travel program (if reports on DCUM are to be believed, I personally don’t know any yet).

What year is this?

What's the motivation for doing this

Beats me. As others have said, no communication from them. In another thread, there was one McLean parent who gushed about how great and understanding ARL has been, which has been the complete opposite of our experience so far.

Massive influx

Do tell, Anonymous.
dmv football was a massacres thiss year due to ecnl mergers, broken alliances and GA implosions…. Way more kids than roster spots so clubs pick and choose

Are there any returning players still waiting for emails?

I heard the younger ARL boy teams (2014-2016s) picked up top players from other clubs this year (including SYC and McLean) making for a prolonged and difficult try-out year, but the people I have spoken to sound hopeful next year might be one of the best from a performance standpoint.

No info on the girls side. A little less chatter there. Ad I believe less turnover.

OP, did you ever get feedback on your kid being cut from travel? Did you meet anyone else who also got cut?

We still have not heard anything from tryouts several weeks ago in the older girl ranks. I didn’t have high hopes but I did expect to hear back one way or the other. Obviously, this sends a message, so we have moved on and found a spot elsewhere. But it’s not the right way to run things.

You were on an existing ASA travel team but were made to go to open tryouts?

NM I think I misunderstood. You meant still have not heard anything since tryouts (which you did not attend.) Did you ever follow up with ASA? I hope you did and you gave them an earful. Agreed that it’s a totally shit way to run things. Which club did you end up going to?

Does Arlington have allegiance to their players? If you make it on a team, should you anticipate being trained by the coaches and remaining with Arlington or will Arlington cut you in a later season to replace you with new players? My child is a lower player and new kids were still trying out last week even after I heard a kid was cut.

Arlington is something special this year. The operation is run by clowns.

Bare minimum is exactly what they offer players.
