| For newbs is ASA arlington or alexandria? |
| This is because travel soccer has become pay to play at youngest ages and not about whether the kid is decent or not and therefore parents get false signals. |
lol wut |
It can be either, but if you read the OP, they specifically said Arlington. |
| We had that happen to a kid of my son's slightly older team, but it likely wasn't due to his soccer playing ability (he seemed mediocre like the rest of the team, including my son). However, his parents always got him to practices and games late, he only had shin guards half the time, and he didn't show up for a tournament. Not his fault, as a kid, but not worth dealing with when the entire team was just ok to begin with. Easy enough to find another more reliable family to participate. |
Player was told they were cut and will not be offered a spot this week. |
What age? |
Starting to wonder if it’s possible they miss the 5/22 deadline if they haven’t even gotten second team offers out yet… |
Better yet, which color team? I can see the last team being vulnerable to Being cut altogether. |
As of yesterday they are still evaluating at least some second team players. |
|
Large clubs like Arlington typically form multiple travel teams for the same (first team, second team, third team, etc.). While it's possible that your kid is just really not good enough to be offered a place on a travel team at any level, I would consider whether misbehavior or lack of effort are the real culprits.
I know every parent thinks their child is well-behaved and diligent, but consider whether this might be the case. I'd just ask the club. |
Arlington parent here and I think that sounds unusual. If it was a situation like PP was saying that the parents were unreliable, sure that could happen but they would probably give you a heads up first in one way or another. I have, however, seen enough mistaken emails and missed deadlines that I would not rule out a mistake. If the decision truly feels like it came out of nowhere, definitely follow up. |
Kid is reliable and well behaved and practices/plays well, attends all practices and events, comes prepared and attentive. Kid at same level as teammates. Nobody on the team stands out as that much more skilled. This is not a bottom level team. Kid was cut to make room for new kids entering from outside ASA travel. |
Let's wait until after 5/22. There might be something lost in translation. |
This is what I was wondering. We had always been told no kids are dropped. Once you are in, you are in and they invest in your training. Guess that info was wrong. |
