Please give me suggestions of what a teens (14) wear for a bat mitzvah

+1 on short tight dresses. Wear with sneakers. This is what EVERY girl does. My daughter went to one last night and some ever wore off the shoulder sweatshirts over the dresses when it got dark.

It’s definitely not what every girl wears. Girls should wear whatever they are comfortable in instead of feeling the need to conform to some unrealistic dress standards. My 13 yo daughter is a size women’s 10/12 almost 6’ with DD breasts and there’s no way she’d leave the house dressed like that. Most of those dresses wouldn’t even fit her body type if she wanted them to. It’s fine if you have an undeveloped or underdeveloped body at that age and it still looks little girlish. When a 14 year old has the body of a 25 year old though skimpy and tight is NOT the kind of dress they should be wearing.

Make sure she wears shorts under her dress. Kids often play games where they are running around or climbing on each other.

Like it or not, kids are wearing short, tight dresses. You can get one that is not quite as short or quite as tight (size up, or slight Aline on short dress), so it looks less skimpy. But that is what the majority of the kids are wearing.

Some posters are posting from Nordstrom Kids dept- that is fine if you have an early 7th grade 12 year old. OP said her daughter is 14!

This type of thing is what most girls wear to Bat Mitzvahs (like it or not, this is what they wear, and they where cute sneakers like Nikes with the dress, little sweater over it for service). Mine always wear little bike shorts under the dress. The ones that wear dresses like in some of the early links look ridiculous.

Katie J is very trendy, you can size up to have the dress not be as short (but these are pricier than Dillards/Macys):

Are you crazy? They’re 14 not 24!

Look at the photographer link posted earlier and you will see that just about every 14 year old girl is wearing a short body con dress. People that don’t have current tween and teen girls really need to stop commenting on this thread.

This is by far the best and most helpful set of links in this thread. Well done PP.

I would not recommend putting a 14-year-old in a bodycon dress. It is essential to consider the child's comfort, age appropriateness, and the potential for confusion or discomfort in others. Instead, opt for age-appropriate clothing that allows the child to express their individuality while also respecting social norms and their own boundaries.

This one is nice!

Lol at the idea that a bodycon dress will cause confusion at a bar or bat mitzvah since 95% of the girls will be wearing one.

Ok but this is an extreme outlier of an example. Most teens don’t need to be “undeveloped or undeveloped” to wear them.

You obviously don’t have a teen daughter. This is what they wear. My tomboy girl included.
