Yes. I was warned that I’d hate the reboot, but I watched it anyway.

It’s not a stretch to imagine that an adolescence without a stable father figure would mess up Rory’s character in terms of dating. The fact that the character was still struggling with this in the reboot was problematic. The fact that her raising the kid alone was seen as a positive, full-circle moment was problematic. I’d much rather have seen her end up in a functional relationship or doing IVF. They’d still get that “Mom, I’m pregnant” moment without the cheating and the father who didn’t care enough to be there. Huge mistake on the part of the writers.

Rory, but also the writers. I know at least half a dozen people who've gone to Yale. Nobody drops "Yale" into a sentence as much as they do. Everyone just says "college" or "school" or mayyyyyyybe "New Haven". But mostly college.

Also, that she'd cheat with Dean? That 10th grade Rory would evolve into someone who got pregnant and didn't know who the father was? No.

Genuine question: Why do you think she doesn’t know who the father is? It’s incredibly clear that the father is Logan, they basically did everything but put “Logan is the father” in writing on the screen. Why would you assume she isn’t aware it’s him?

I think it's believable. Rory was hyped up by her mom her whole life. Her mom had all these hopes for her not to turn out her way: she was the smartest, the most reasonable, the most mature kid on earth. Then the grandparents sweep in with the private school money and solve that one problem she had. Rory was basking for too long in the glory of all the positive feedback from everyone telling her she was bound for success. The irony of the show is messy, no-good teen mom Lorelei ends up a college grad and successful business owner, and she did it all herself.

Lorelai. Terrible and selfish in relationships. Her parents were definitely manipulative and a pain but she always managed to make things worse and pick more battles than were necessary.
