Ugh. I can’t anymore. Why can’t we be like Australia or Switzerland with this?

Any and all of these lawmakers and judges should be put in a lockdown with their families and feel what it’s like to be hunted with weapons you don’t stand a chance. They need to experience that terror and grief. It’s unbelievable how they lack all empathy and sense.

You may certainly denounce your citizenship at any time, and leave.

Nope. She should stay and work with me and the sane majority to change the laws of this country.

A ban on that type of weapon though, could have prevented his horrific death toll.

But the insecure incels defending these weapons of war will never listen to reason.
I just do not know why we let them rule the day.

Voting Democratic is the only path to achieving change.

(Please don’t decide that paying lower taxes is worth the blood of more children…)

Weapons of war? No. It's a firearm. I'm sure you would love to ban them and then go after semiautomatic pistols next. No going to happen.

Even in the 1994 AWB, none were retroactively confiscated. More to the point, even sheriffs all over the country will tell you to go pound sand when you try.

Law enforcement appears to be terrified of this weapon...or else why was a single shooter with an AR-15 allowed to go on a rampage in an elementary school for over an hour...with armed law enforcement standing in and around the building?

Did you see the photo in the Post of the metal door in Uvalde he shot through?

I always tell my children to hide behind something metal. This sounds silly I know, but seeing this door with the huge bullet hole, and the metal twisted… has caused new terror in me… I can’t unsee it. I feel sick.

There is nothing, nothing that can save your child, or anyone when the shooter shows up.

And definitely not the “good guy with the gun”. Yes, this was the worst, 20 police officers standing inside the school, waiting until every last child bled out. If I remember they were waiting, for back up, for ballistic shields, and what not. 20+ armed professionals thought they were no match for a mass shooter in protective gear.

Yes, WEAPONS OF WAR. Even the manufacturers call it that. How can you not know this? “Use what they use!”, was one of their most successful advertisements. “They” meaning our armed forces. They did not hide what this rifle is, or act confused, why are you?

This a true national shame and a stain on America. I have to admit that in 2012, after Sandy Hook, when no legislation passed, I lost a lot of faith in America that I have yet to regain. The gun violence, and the seeming impossibility of even keeping it at bay is a major reason I'm looking for my kids to go to college abroad.

I could have written this. Same sentiments.

Leave, because you say our American citizenship stands for “insanity till the end”?
Our Founding Fathers could not fathom what we have come to.

You don't know what our founders were like. They lived a tough life and didn't have a lot of patience for nonsense.

Lemme give you a clue: No work, no eat.

Humans, to include our founders, are designed to protect our young. Seeing these pictures should bring rage to all of us. You say our founding fathers would have no patience for nonsense. I agree. They would have never recognized the cowards that allow the slaughter of our own children in the name of false bravado.

Yes, I looked at them. We do not have children. I also served in Desert Shield, so I have seen a shit ton more than you, unless you have served in combat.

I know you're going to quiz me now. What would you like to know?

Why do you wear your heart on your sleeve? Is it a comfort thing for you?

I'm the PP who asked if you have kids. I have multiple close family members that are combat veterans and have also "seen shit", and they aren't nearly as heartless as you.
I grew up around guns and was taught firearm safety from a ridiculously young age. So, no, I don't need an education from you.
You understand the absolute sea of blood in that classroom in Uvalde came from the bodies of 9-year-olds who were hiding under a table while dozens of "good guys with guns" stood around outside and listened to their screams and desperate pleas for help, right?? Because they were all too afraid of an 18 year old deranged guy with a single AR-15.
Maybe it is because I have children the same age as those who were killed and traumatized in Newtown and Uvalde, but I just can't imagine being so flippant about this. Especially if you are a combat veteran who should know exactly what these types of firearms do to an adult body. Now, imagine what they would do to a small child.

The U.S. military is not going to war with a civilian rifle.

He 100% votes Republican, though identifies as an Independent. Was probably apolitical in the military until something, insert traumatizing experience that could have spun him either way, radicalized him.

Probably also supports Project 2025 and the GOP’s ongoing coup preparations.

I don't have to imagine. It happened. I get that. You may think I don't, but I do.

I also understand that EVERY SHOOTER IS THEIR OWN ACTOR.

I don't transfer guilt like you do. Do you get it?

* BTW, I just wondering if this post will get deleted like so many others. Whoever is deleting, do you REALLY think you are changing minds by constantly GAR-DEN-ING opinion ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Yes, I get that every shooter is their own actor and responsible for their actions. Of course, but why should it be so incredibly easy to own something like this in the first place? Why should an 18yo be able to legally purchase an AR-15? Can't be trusted to legally drink a beer, but can be trusted with a weapon of mass murder. And before you give me the line that we send 18yos into combat with high-powered weaponry, let me remind you that they go through training beforehand.

I had an abusive boyfriend in college and ended up needing to get a restraining order, yet nothing was done when he went out and purchased a handgun and started making threats. Why is the NRA so against red flag laws? Better background checks?
