There isn't really an argument to be had on the bike/SUV part, either -- he was parked in a bike lane.

The video is unclear. It looked like he was parked in a traffic lane, not only bike line.

It really does look like there is plenty of room to go around.

No one is putting their life at risk BEHIND THIS GUY'S CAR. He made it clear he doesn't care if she dies. He is one step away from physical violence. You don't think this is the type of person to reverse into this woman and kill her and her kid? You are wrong.

Gosh. If I was so afraid someone might kill me the last thing I would do is provoke them further and make them do what I want. I would get as far away as I could and then call the police.

I think we both know she wasn’t afraid.

She wanted to flex being a white lady to tell someone else what to do. And she didn’t like being told off. The guy is a jerk but the lady was clearly on a power trip. She absolutely knew she was in zero danger.

Isn't it swell that you know exactly what you would do in circumstances you were not in.

The woman is a bit of a Karen and kind of racist. The man is a bit of a jerk and made a comment about Jews so he’s kind of antisemitic.

Do they cancel each other out in the victim Olympics? Or is antisemitism the absolute worst “ism” there is and that gets double points?

To summarize:

1. The man is blocking the bike lane, which is illegal and endangers bicyclists.
2. The man made anti-Semitic comments.
3. actually there is no 3.

Got it. Double points it is.

As the confrontation unfolded, a guy on a bike whizzed right past her.

+1

It’s a confrontation between the worst elements of DC. Basically a proxy battle between Trayvon White and Nadeau/Allen.

I absolutely know that if I was afraid for my life, I wouldn’t spend time trying to make the strange man I was afraid of bend to my demands.

Yes, I can say with absolute certainty that I would disengage if I was afraid for my life. You would have to be on meth not to!
And if my child was with me the threshold for disengaging in a dangerous situation is even lower.

The only other option is that she was angry and she knew that she was in zero danger. She wanted to manufacture outrage and she succeeded. Good for her.

Same. I can’t see how anyone could defend him. Awful.

So you even hear yourself?

The Twitter OP is a minorly famous. Has anyone caught her breaking the law?

Or is your theory that because some people break laws, laws are meaningless and should be ignored by everyone else?

“minorly famous”?

As in someone who spends their time chasing clout on social media from an extremely small group of people.

Who has defended him?

Pretty sure the conclusion from normal people is that he’s an antisemite and that she’s annoying.

Not a lot of controversy here.

He’s not parked he is stopped

It's not legal to stop your car in a bike lane. It's not legal to block the bike lane.

Yes I know it is not legal to block a portion of the bike lane like the man AND I find it funny because bikers break the law all the time. I find it hilarious... I feel like it's an Onion article.

Nobody is defending him. It’s just kind of funny to see the worst elements of DC society clash. Bike lane Karen and SUV a**hole face off over who has a better claim to street space. It’s so stupid, it’s funny in the way only two idiots can be.

I was very confused about this too, but I think that her child in the basket must be facing her, and she's moving towards the man. Article says she waited 15 minutes. He was an ass, but she should have just walked around when it was clear.

No way I am putting my child or me behind the CAR of a man who just told me "your life is not my concern". NO EFFING WAY. Then when he throws it in reverse and kills her you'll all be saying "why wouldn't you just wait?".

Right? So it’s fine for him to say her life doesn’t matter?

She is carrying a toddler. A mother in Chicago who was also biking with her toddler thought she had “plenty of room to go around” and ended up being hit by another vehicle, with the crash killing her kid. So I can hardly blame for not wanting to go around. Bike lanes exist to make it safer to bike around DC. Cretins like the anti-Semite here make biking even more dangerous than it would be if the lanes didn’t even exist. They should be called out for the selfish pelicans that they are.

I understand being overly prudent when you are taking a child on a very busy street and she thought she could not fit in the portion of the bike land that was still available to her.

In Chicago the bike lane was blocked and it made her go into traffic, this bike lane is not completely blocked but still she felt it was blocked enough.

and I get the guy is an a-hole but still.

How is anti-semitism funny?

Why is the biker biking towards the traffic? Real biking question, I thought bikers were supposed to bike with the traffic.
