I was very confused about this too, but I think that her child in the basket must be facing her, and she's moving towards the man. Article says she waited 15 minutes. He was an ass, but she should have just walked around when it was clear.

So, he's breaking the law but she should have just kept her mouth shut and waited for the man to decide when to let her pass?

He was more than an ass. He's a hate filled bigot who needs to get the hell out of my city.

Rule of law, along with "correct" answers in mathematics, is a tool of White supremacy. White people ride bicycles then most, so bike lanes are racist PoC in SUVs.

No offense but I think this misses the larger isssue.

Understatement of the year.

+1.

How about the guy breaking the law or behaving carelessly should have said “I’m so sorry. Let me move.” to the mom with a baby on a bike? At which point she would have continued on with her bike in the bike lane that’s meant for bikes.

The Native driver wanted to stick it to a white lady. That’s the beginning impetus of this incident.

And then it escalated once he made it an antisemitic incident.

"Native" to where?

Can't shame the shameless.

This where the world has been for millennia.

Douchebag driver lives in MD. The fact that his great aunt lived in SE doesn't make him a native but his behavior makes him a douchebag.

If he grew up in DC he is a DC native.

I think that she instigated the confrontation so that she could post it on social media is a part of the story. The other part of the story is that the person she instigated the confrontation with for social media engagement was an antisemite.

And here we go...victim blaming.

Victim blaming?

What world do you live on? This mentality is gross.

A guy in huge SUV parked in the bike lane to get a reaction. He knew he was blocking cyclists and he knew he would make people angry. I’m so sick of lowlifes who do stuff like this and play victim when people (rightfully) get upset at their antisocial behavior.

He was ready with a phone to film which casts even more doubt on his intentions. Anyone who behaves like this in the city, gets yelled at. You’re mad there isn’t a Jewish exception to being a jerk?

Grow up.

No, we agree on that front. Victim blaming is saying that the women was looking for an incident to post on social media.

The lady says “it’s not safe to go around”
and then 10 seconds later a cyclist breezes right on by. LOL!

The bike lane haters have found this thread and are demonstrating that they hate bike lanes more than they hate anti-Semitism. Which says a lot about the bike lane haters.

What might be doable for a single person on a bike might also not be at all safe for a bike with a trailer attached (with at least one kid in it). Surely you can see that a bike might squeeze by where a kid trailer might not?

And of course….neither should have to because he shouldn’t have been blocking the lane in the first place.

And here we go...victim blaming.

This “trike mom” lady spends her days riding around seeking ways to bring attention to herself. A normal person would not wait there for 15 minutes instigating confrontation with their camera out. A normal person would just go around the obstacle and maybe say something while passing and go along their way. There is something off about her. And today she encountered someone even more off, an antisemite. They make a great pair and perfectly encapsulate what DC is all about these days.

I don’t follow why someone seeking to bring attention to themselves would post under an anonymous handle. In any case, she has been performing a valuable public service for quite a while in documenting the entitled and dangerous behavior of some who drive in this city and their insulting and often threatening behavior when called out. As a road user here, I am grateful for her bravery.

I was thinking the same thing. This woman advocated and voted for what she is now receiving. Who could have seen it coming?

Yes, who could have seen that public protests in response to specific heinous acts of police brutality could have resulted in the collapse of basic functions of policing like traffic enforcement? If that was you, you have our undying admiration.

It was pretty obvious at the time. Didn’t need a crystal ball.

This is terrible and I can't believe there are people supporting him. She has a child with her. There is no excuse for this man. He is a disgusting human being.

If someone asked me to explain DC in one video, this would be the one I would use.
