She says "i didn't want to go into the contraflow lane".... so there was a lane for her, but she didn't want to use it? I'm still confused.

She clarified that she misspoke because she was flustered. When she said "I don't want to go into the contraflow lane" she meant "This is a contraflow lane, so going around you would mean pulling into oncoming traffic which is not safe."

And I agree that biking into oncoming traffic is not safe. I hope you agree too.

Yea I agree, she should be on the other side of the road and riding with the flow of the traffic. But she is trying to bike towards the traffic.

Still don't understand why whe is biking toward traffic, clearly it's legal I guess since another biker did it in the video.

But if she does not want to bike contraflow why is she trying to?

or are you saying she was not biking contraflow and just went over there to tell him to move, even though she is not biking that way?

There isn't really an argument to be had on the bike/SUV part, either -- he was parked in a bike lane.

The video is unclear. It looked like he was parked in a traffic lane, not only bike line.

He’s not parked he is stopped

It's not legal to stop your car in a bike lane. It's not legal to block the bike lane.

Yes I know it is not legal to block a portion of the bike lane like the man AND I find it funny because bikers break the law all the time. I find it hilarious... I feel like it's an Onion article.

Imagine being a person who watched the video and thought it was funny.

Imagine being a person who watched the video and thought a**hole bikers harassing people was morally righteous. Yikes.

You know you can watch the video and think they are both wrong, he's just more wrong.

Clowns: this is a two-way bike lane. They are common in DC, a city some of you have apparently no familiarity with.

Because she had her phone ready and needed to be on that side to provoke the man for the best shot. This is manufactured outrage and it’s hilarious that people are taking bike lane Karen seriously.

She was biking in the contraflow bike lane. He was blocking the contraflow bike lane. In order to get around someone who is blocking the contraflow bike lane, you have to bike against oncoming traffic in the traffic lane.

Imagine if you're driving, next to a contraflow bike lane, and all of a sudden a bicyclist is coming towards you in your lane, because the contraflow bike lane is blocked (illegally, by an anti-Semitic driver).

This is 2023. What year are you posting from?

And why do you think being a bicyclist is worse than being an anti-Semite?

Same. I can’t see how anyone could defend him. Awful.

Nobody is defending him. It’s just kind of funny to see the worst elements of DC society clash. Bike lane Karen and SUV a**hole face off over who has a better claim to street space. It’s so stupid, it’s funny in the way only two idiots can be.

How is anti-semitism funny?

It’s funny that this woman wanted to flex and tell a random man what to do.

In any other circumstance she’d be bike lane Karen. She found a man who was kind of a jerk and provoked him until she got her desired reaction. This is rage bait from a racist lady on a power trip. Antisemitism isn’t a free pass to be an a**hole biker. Sorry if I don’t automatically pick racist a**hoke biker over antisemitic a**hole SUV driver.

In the end, that lady and that man deserve each other. They’re different sides of the same coin. They both represent the worst of DC.

In a way, I’m glad they found each other instead of harassing the rest of us.

It’s interesting how the “Karen” insult has evolved to be nothing more than a signal for the sexism and racism of those who use it. Ironic because the original “Central Park Karen” called the cops on someone who was calling her out for violating the law by letting her dog run free in Central Park. If calling people out for endangering others (let alone toddlers) with selfish and ignorant behavior constitutes being a “Karen”, then we apparently need a heck of a lot more Karens in DC.

She obviously turned around and came back to harass the man.

She had her phone ready and knew this was her chance for her 15 seconds of fame. It’s hilarious that another biker zips by them as she’s explaining that the car is blocking the bike lane and must move now.

Total ignorance on display here. The mother did not turn around. Her son sits in the front of the e-bike. If you were the least bit familiar with DC, you would have seen plenty of these. If you think asking someone to stop doing something that endangers your life and that of your toddler constitutes “harassment”, you are beyond help.

The woman is a bit of a Karen and kind of racist. The man is a bit of a jerk and made a comment about Jews so he’s kind of antisemitic.

Do they cancel each other out in the victim Olympics? Or is antisemitism the absolute worst “ism” there is and that gets double points?

she’s not racist at all and he is 100% antisemitic. come on. on what planet is asking a black man to move his car “kind of racist” but express negative comments about Jews just “kind of” antisemitic?

+1

And yeah, I’m going to venture to say that what he said about Jewish people is way beyond “negative comments.” There’s a lot of history behind what he specifically said, whether he knows it or not. Truly awful thing to say to anyone, let alone in the presence of a toddler.
