What happened to the party? This use to be the party of free speech, anti-war, about freedom of religion and about helping the poor and disaffected that were hurt by the pains of globalization.

I have seen over the past decade the party being completely co-opted by the military industrial complex, to the point where people are foaming at the mouth over wanting to fight in Ukraine. I have seen the party completely ditch the struggling blue collar worker to get into bed with large tech billionaires. I have seen it now completely on the side of censorship and the use of authoritarian tactics when it comes with dealing with oppositional speech.

The democratic party now reminds me of the neocons of the Bush era? Anyone else get this feeling?

I’m with you OP but not specifically for all of the reasons you mentioned. I grew up as economically progressive, socially conservative dem. I left the party about 20 years ago. I don’t vote now.

So you prefer a white christian authoritarian state. That'll show 'em.

Neither party comes anywhere near my values. I prefer to remain honest to myself.

Start with being honest with the positions of the party. Because you have not come anywhere CLOSE to describing the positions of the democratic party in your OP. So start with shutting down the cable news channels and Twitter, and educating yourself. Because your post shows you're not really educated about the issues, or the parties' positions, at all. Not even a little.

NP here and I agree with OP about not voting. How can you in good conscience vote for either party as they are both nightmares. We've lost our way politically in that there's no candidates for either party that deserve my vote. I don't agree you have to cast a vote for someone you don't believe in. That's settling and that's being dishonest with everyone including yourself. I simply don't feel the need to pretend one party is better than the other because while I'm a social liberal who is strongly pro choice and pro immigration, I think the Dems have lost their way on so many levels. The Left is extreme now - cancel culture is very real and it's scary.

Adolescent. A vote for no one is a vote for the worst candidate. You obviously don’t read history, but in the upcoming election, your non-vote will help the candidate that opposes democracy. Don’t be a sucker: there is no such thing as a protest vote.

Our politicians are bought by corporations. Neither side gives a F about workers.

Except that Democrats supports workers’ rights, unions, workers safety, C suite sharing profits with the employees who helped earn those profits, minimum wage and living wages, health care for all and the GOP opposes all of the above.

So yeah. Samesies. Both sides. Orrrrr anyone both sidesing this is a garbage Republican.

PP here. Agreed. No not the same. I’m a Democrat and will never vote for the current GOP. I believe in climate change. I’m pro choice. Support LBGTQ rights. I’m scared of the Christian fascists. Im pro workers’ rights. But I still think the powerful on both sides do not have the interests of the average American at heart. It all boils down to money and the 1% having all the power.

Why is Joe going to the Picket line and how exactly does that help the 1%?

Trump also went to Detroit.

Trump is planning a Trump rally in Clinton Township, 25 miles from Detroit. That’s not even close to the equivalent of walking the UAW picket line. At least you tried?

I answered why our president is going to Detroit. I’ll bet you know more about Clinton Twp than my neighborhood in the Detroit city limits.

What?

It is.

Next thing they’ll be talking about 1)inflation 2) the “open border” 3) Biden’s age.

It’s an orchestrated series of talking points to weaken the Democrats. OP never voted for any Democrats; OP is a Republican.

These are all valid topics.

Inflation - sucks and is making everything more expensive.

The open border- see NYC and what they are going through for example.

Age - Biden is no way making it through a second term. If you can’t see that then your hopeless.

Sinclair dictating the stories and angles on morning and afternoon news channels is an very under appreciated driver of national narratives.

And if Romney or even GWB were running, I'd vote based on those issues. Instead, a man who has tried to overthrow an election and who has pledged to prosecute his enemies is running and no one in the republican party seems to care

Inflation does suck - if only the GOP had had the stones to stand up to their donors and supported the legislation to end price gouging. You think this inflation is 100% organic?

There is no open border. I’ll say it again: there is no open border. If the GOP thinks it’s a real problem instead of an opportunity for their donors to cut wages and hire undocumented workers, you’d think they’d pass some legislation but - nope! no, no legislation address it. Just a problem to rile you up.

And you think Trump, who famously doesn’t exercise, can’t balance and thinks Biden is going to start WWII is healthy?

The Democrats haven’t shifted. The Democrats are the only adults in the room. There are solutions for all the problems you wring your hands over; the GOP is preventing all of these solutions.

Especially since most of the people who watch Sinclair stations have no idea that they’re watching a propaganda station.

I know and it still works. It's just subtle choices on what to report on, how to frame stories, and what experts to have on

Yet the MoDeRaTes and InDePenDenTs and IvOTeThiRdPartY want to believe that Biden’s polling has nothing to do with this.

Inflation - sucks and is making everything more expensive. and would have been worse if not for Biden's bills

The open border- see NYC and what they are going through for example. the borders are not open, as evidenced by the record interdictions and deportations

Age - Biden is no way making it through a second term. If you can’t see that then your hopeless. yes, he is old. so is Trump

Well, I don’t disagree up to a certain point. The warmongering is neoconish. And the blind worship of intelligence agencies is weird and out of step with a party that used to reasonably question “the man.” Both parties are wobbly on free speech.

The Democratic Party has been losing its mind for 50 years. But it’s been a gradual thing. The GOP completely went bonkers by electing Trump, and it has been stuck on crazy ever since.
