All misinformation and straw men. We didn’t start any war. We are defending an independent country that was attacked by a lunatic imperialist who is hostile to the U.S. and all our allies. It is in our national interest. Supporting allies against imperialism is one the two great international policies that has made America great in our history. The other is taking in immigrants and refugees who are victims of imperialists and other tyrants.

Well, I agree the victims of socialism and communism deserve consideration. It's unfortunate those isms are so incredibly destructive to human rights.

Hands off my Medicare, though, right?

Maybe I'll care in 25 years. I was forced into this system. I'd prefer it not exist but I have no choice in the matter. I'm not rich enough to make up for the loss of income from those taxes to make my own way. Guess what... that doesn't make me like it more.

Sure it does. If you really believed that all taxes are theft and Medicaid is one step closer to Socialist Hell then you'd go move to another country where you don't have to suffer through government-provided insurance. Maybe even forgo your social security. But I bet you're not going to do that.

So if you don't agree with all policies and programs administered by the government, you have to move to another country? 🙄

No but if you feel THAT strongly, then surely you have a way to avoid having to accept taxpayer-funded programs like that. You could stay here and simply not accept them, too. Or... do you actually want your Medicaid?

What happened to the party? This use to be the party of free speech, anti-war, about freedom of religion and about helping the poor and disaffected that were hurt by the pains of globalization.

I have seen over the past decade the party being completely co-opted by the military industrial complex, to the point where people are foaming at the mouth over wanting to fight in Ukraine. I have seen the party completely ditch the struggling blue collar worker to get into bed with large tech billionaires. I have seen it now completely on the side of censorship and the use of authoritarian tactics when it comes with dealing with oppositional speech.

The democratic party now reminds me of the neocons of the Bush era? Anyone else get this feeling?

I feel the same way. I participated in anti-war marches. Where has our party gone???

Our troops are not fighting this war. That is the whole point. Hopefully there is never a time when circumstances change that situation. Maybe the GOP pulling funding from Ukraine gives Russia an advantage that necessitates our leaders pondering actually deploying our troops, but territorial integrity and respect for the world order where differences are resolved without bloodshed should be the goal.

Do you think it is ok for Russia to simply take Ukrainian land, rape Ukrainian women and deport Ukrainian kids back to Russia to "repatriate" them? it is either acceptable or it isn't. If it isn't, then supporting Ukrainians in this battle is the best solution short of Russia deciding to just leave, which obviously isn't going to happen.

NP. I hear you. But after twenty years of constant lies from our military about Afghanistan and Iraq ( and many other places, too) I really have a hard time believing anything about Ukraine. I really want to but after the two decades of betrayal from 3 administrations AND THE MILITARY, I just can’t do it.
