Class Assignments - Notification?

Anonymous
Even in Schoology, not all classes/teachers are listed.

Schoology is better because students can see all of their classmates, too.

Schoology will list what classes and teachers. You can even see schedule. But not room numbers. My kid gets on a bus in 45 minutes and is supposed to report to first period. Sigh.

+1 yep. It makes more sense but of course FCPS doesn’t care. They don’t want to deal with parent calls or complaints about their child’s teacher assignments or schedule.

Your second sentence is why it DOES make sense.

Can you blame them? FCPS parents are totally nuts and it’s a full time job just dealing w complaints. I’d like to know sooner, too, as my kid has anxiety and knowing teacher assignment and which friends will be in class puts her mind at ease, but I understand why they won’t do it.

It’s not nuts to want obvious mistakes fixed before school starts.

No, it’s not, and those issues will get resolved more quickly since they won’t be bogged down w hundreds of class change requests that crop up when teacher/student roster is revealed with enough time for parents to compare and make change requests. Not everyone can have the most highly sought after teacher with 10 of their best friends but many parents certainly try!

Nailed it.

I thought about moving her but told her to try to hang in her a little longer. Eventually she got used to the cold hearted witch and she was fine. Probably toughened her up.

One of the things that the military has been concerned about is the lack of resiliency among soldiers. You learn resiliency by learning to adapt and adjust to difficult situations.

We need to quit fighting our kids wars. Stand back and step in when it is really needed--but don't try to prevent them from experiencing difficulties. Help them get over the difficulties.

You’re talking to snowplow parents. You’re wasting your breath (well, keystrokes).

Only teachers show up for us (my kid checked) so not universal.

My anxious high schooler got up to see their classes for their walk through today, and of course nothing is there.

Have them check Schoology and I hope they’re getting help for the anxiety.

+1. DCs schedule is not showing up in SIS, but all of the courses are in Schoology. Just be sure to switch to student view.

And they were there last night from student view if they logged into the web version instead of the app. My DD showed me hers and it matches what I see on Schoology today. Someone figured that out and it went around group chats.

For orientation? He can ask any adult standing in the hall for the teachers room number. There will be many.

Luckily, classroom numbers did finally show up a little after 7am

RCMS has 1500 kids in it. Can you imagine 1500 kids not knowing where to go once they got off the bus?

The solution cannot be go ask an adult standing in the hallway.

My sick kid's schedule does not match what the counselor promised to do. They told us a 504 was unnecessary because they would work with us and we have to request changes. This is why the schedules need to come out sooner.

Not a good look for the first promised activity of the new school year.

The disappointment continues.

It’s there now. My MS kid has gym everyday 🙄
