Class Assignments - Notification?

The Principal at Chesterbrook Elementary said the same thing, and we are still waiting said email 😂 kids have been asking ALL DAY LONG, and went to bed without knowing the answer! Communication failure at its best!

Living up to your reputation, Chesterbrook parents! The thing to do is to not set any expectations for your child, just tell them who their teacher is when you get the email, that way the only disappointed person is you and your feelings really don't matter.

Not NP—but an email never arrived and Open House is tomorrow.

Schoology for parents is useless. I log in as my child instead to see everything.

And when you get to the school, someone will be in the front area, holding a master list and they’ll be able to tell you which classroom to walk to.

You have to switch it to your kid’s view and then it works fine. It’s easier when you have more than one kid to log in as a parent so you can toggle between them.

ES: Our children's teachers emailed us yesterday. I like this way of doing things.

Tomorrow is the open house day, and I still haven't received DC's class assignment. Elementary school.

RCMS has 1500 kids in it. Can you imagine 1500 kids not knowing where to go once they got off the bus?

The solution cannot be go ask an adult standing in the hallway.

1500 kids are not going to orientation today.

Oh you are so right -- so maybe only 700 would be asking the "adult standing in the hallway" which way to their first period. Thanks for the reassurance!

LOL...seriously FCPS at it's "finest"

Ours is tomorrow too and admin said we’d receive by COB today. They usually send end of day.

Never you worry. They will release the lists before the Open House. They just want to minimize the chance parents will contact the school asking for changes.

Our old elementary school did that. You had to line up in the cafeteria to get an index card with your kid’s teacher info on it. They kept everyone outside until the doors opened and parents ran to get in line because the whole school came at the same time so you had about 500 families trying to get the info and to the classroom in the 30 minutes they allotted for this. They started herding people out after 30 and if you hadn’t gotten to the classroom by then you were out of luck. So fun!

Pre-Covid they would post the class lists on the window in front of school and you'd have to go there to find out. The PTO would have "popsicles at the playground" for new kindergartners that morning so they could meet kids in their class. It was lovely - I really wish we could go back to the things schools did pre-covid. I miss the family-oriented events, better field trips, etc...

Our class lists have never been posted in front of school but we’ve been back to playground popsicles, field trips, family-oriented school-wide events for 3 years…
