Apparently this is the most important thing on the governor’s agenda.

It’s absolutely frightening. Virginia just took a big step closer to becoming Florida.

Calling people by their actual names and pronouns is... "scary"? Wow.

It is unbelievable that FCPS show their democratic political support every time a new policy comes out. They are not a political entity, they are a public school serving everyone. They need to keep their mouth shut and stop commenting on something that they have no right to make comments on. This policy finally protects parents from intrusive democrats, trying to confuse kids even more.

Too bad they can't simply shut up about personal social issues and just stick to academics. I guess that's too much to ask.

Yep. This is what we've come to. Pathetic twilight zone BS.

It is easy to focus on social rather than bring up the grades.

Rather than explain and introduce the new model policies, she just said here it is, bad for trans. She should be fired for not explaining what is in it. Very poor illogical argument, not sure if this is a good example on how to make points that she disagrees with.

New Model: On bathroom use, the policy requires students to use school bathrooms and locker rooms matching the sex they were assigned at birth, unless federal law requires otherwise. In addition, overnight travel in hotels, locker rooms, and other intimate spaces for school activities must be based on biological sex, according to the guidance.

Reid: I want to be clear that FCPS remains committed to an inclusive and affirming learning environment for each and every student and staff member including those who are transgender or gender expansive. We believe our current FCPS policies are consistent with federal and state anti-discrimination laws.

This is what I'm worried about for my childrens' transgender friends. I firmly believe transgender youth should be allowed to use the bathroom and locker room of their choice. Transgender children/youth who have been using facilities aligned to their preferred gender should get to continue doing so.

I care less about the request for a name change being told to parents.

What about straight children's right and safety?
After a transgender teenager sexually assaulted a female student in a school bathroom while wearing a skirt, you can't say that normal parents' concern about gender expansive bathroom policy is a delusion.

I cannot believe people are still using this as an example. 1. Kid was not trans. 2. He didn't sneak into the bathroom as a girl to commit his assault. He sexually assaulted her after they agreed to meet there. 3. At a previous school, he sexually assaulted another girl in a classroom.

Please stop with this. It's a story about failure of the system to get a predator out of the schools, NOT a trans issue.

What is bigger umbrella for skirt wearing people?
Trans?
Gender non-conform?
Gay?
Confusion?
Women?

DP. It's all trans issues. We've decided to break down the barriers of sex, including segregated bathrooms. And the results have not been 100% positive.

These rules show that enough people think we went too far.

The civil rights movement wasn’t 100% positive at the start either. So should we have stopped that as well?

Apples and oranges.

Not the same.

Nah, it’s pretty much the same. You want every marginalized person to shut up and go away, probably hiding behind a Bible and/or overinflated sense of self.

anyway, your kids are going to put you in a home and never come visit. Have a great summer

You’re vile. Not the same at all. Girls don’t want penises in their bathroom period. Regardless if the boy “feels” like a girl. He doesn’t belong in there.

DP, and whites didn’t feel safe from physical or sexual assault when sharing bathrooms with other races. They felt they didn’t belong their either.

That's a stretch. It's not the same.

Please share why you think it’s different.

You are demeaning the Civil Rights movement if you think that people being judged by the color of their skin is the same as having biological boys in the girls' bathroom..

I personally wouldn't make the comparison, but come on with "it demeans the civil rights movement." We heard this same tired line when gay people were fighting for the right to get married, to be allowed in the military, etc.

Co opting feminism isn't enough for the haters; you all have to pretend you care about race, as well. Must be exhausting putting this mask on every day.

How about instead of the Civil Rights parallel, which I agree is a stretch, we think about how horrified people were about gay people being in locker rooms with heterosexuals or having to room together on school trips or being in the military at all. Those things have all been completely fine and were blown out of proportion when first being discussed. I think trans people in locker rooms that are opposite to their bio gender will be the same in a matter of time. No one will think anything of it. By and large our kids already don’t think anything of it. It’s the parents who operate in worst case scenarios that haven’t even happened.

I don't think that girls should ever be subjected to being immodest in front of boys. It is not acceptable to expect that from them. Not everyone has the same beliefs and morals and we should have mutual respect for one another's beliefs and find a compromise that is respectful to all. Perhaps have a few private changing rooms for those that have the gender incompatibility.

+1 the idea that girls should have to get used to changing with boys in their locker rooms or they will be labeled a bigot is sickening.
