Surge of Violent Crime in Moco

Maybe ICE should get off their butts and take the guy into custody themselves? Why should local governments be on the hook to pay for holding a person beyond their court date? ICE is just deflecting from their own failure.

Are you really that stupid?
ICE asked for custody.

MoCo is just too big to deal with anything properly.

I would love to see the county broken up into 4 or 5 smaller justifications.

It's not D vs R issue. As others have pointed out, MC's been always a blue county. What changed, however, is that county policies used to represent "center-left" common sense policies. Not it's completely off the chart far left. Yes, we are f'ed.

This idea that there is something the county did in the last 5 years that caused this has no relation to facts. Do you really think Will Jawando getting elected to county council made some guy think it was ok to stab someone in CVS?

Jawando has helped reduce the effectiveness of police, and “that”
is what makes someone think they can get away with more crime.

That’s not the issue. Fairfax wants him jailed for crimes, ICE want to deport him and let him skip trial and jail.

The progressive politics of moco ruined a once good county. Most of the latest violence occurred in Gaithersburg and Germantown which has a high concentration of Hispanics. Elrich needs to go!

+1. I'd like to see the entire county leadership disappear.

Agreed. I came here about 15 years ago and watched the county steadily get worse. Especially the middle class areas of the county. The wealthier areas like Potomac and Bethesda seem to do better. But the middle class neighborhoods have been overrun with slum landlords and the school system is definitely seeing the ill effects of being a sanctuary county.

We moved to PG, ironically. Cashed out of our MoCo house, bought a nicer home w/out a mortgage, send our kiddos to private schools. PG doesn't have that weird woke political stuff either.

What? I moved to MoCo from Hyattsville and it felt like I moved into a conservative stronghold compared to how liberal Hyattsville is.

They need to crackdown on multiple families living in the same SFH. Also, require legal citizenship or residency status for drivers licenses and car registrations. Impound all cars on roads with expired tags if they try to avoid the DMV. Any cars from out of state that are housed and parked here should be impounded as well.

We welcome immigration, just legal immigration. Gwen you make life very easy for illegal immigrants by allowing them to break all of our housing laws, immigration laws, etc. by giving them driver’s licenses, allowing them to register cars, etc. they will keep coming. They won’t live here anymore if you make their transportation and housing a lot more difficult.

The number of kidnappings and human trafficking, quantities of drugs in mcps, murder, car jackings, and gang activity has skyrocketed, and it correlates with the amount of illegal immigration the county rolls out the red carpet for. Gee, what could possibly go wrong letting in a who,e bunch of people into the country and county who you can’t even verify their names and age, let alone their criminal histories. Often you can’t even travel abroad to many countries just for vacation if you have a prior felony, yet in the US we open the border for everyone to come in and live here indefinitely, and the county encourages it. Brilliant plan.

Hyattsville, Mount Rainier, Greenbelt, College Park, Takoma Park, Downtown Silver Spring. That's the DC suburb's Socialist Bloc. They should all secede and form their own county like Che Guevara County or something and elect Marc Elrich as its Mayor for Life, and let the rest of us laugh.

Wow, OP is desperate. It was two incidents:

1. An incident in Gaithersburg, which is hardly a nice area of Moco, at an apartment building pool.

2. A domestic incident at a Bethesda residence.

So neither happened in public, and OP wants to claim that they show some sort of surge in crime in Moco. Sorry you're priced out of Moco, but the narrative doesn't work.

How is that "head in the sand" approach working out for you?

ICE could have shown up before he was released since they know that the local PD doesn’t pay to care for and imprison federal inmates. Thank you for the personal insult.

So it’s now clear that you hate black and brown people. Thanks for the insight.

np - clear to you because you can't get your head out of that mindset. you think anytime someone says you disagree with, it's because they are "racists". good people can have different views and disagree. don't be like that.
