Last weekend there were 5 shootings and two stabbings in Montgomery County. Many of the shootings including teens. What has become of once a great county?

Sad. I've been here since 1990 and I don't even recognize it anymore. It used to be such a great county. Now, just another PG. |
The progressive policies of the county doesn't help... sanctuary policy being the biggest one. Gang activity was non existent in MoCo until about 10 - 15 years. |
Apparently voting Democrat has horrific consequences. What do they expect? |
These topics need their own category. |
When was MocCo not solidly D? |
Unfortunately there are more racist POSs than PG. |
Guess we should expect ridiculous comments like this up until Election Day. |
It's not D vs R issue. As others have pointed out, MC's been always a blue county. What changed, however, is that county policies used to represent "center-left" common sense policies. Not it's completely off the chart far left. Yes, we are f'ed. |
I grew up in PG in the 80s and 90s and MoCo now seems to be experiencing some of the same problems in portions of the county. MoCo has certainly changed. We need new leadership. |
It's an R vs D issue in the sense of what the mainstream D has become. Under 50 year old D voters are now, on average, morons. Surprise surprise, moronic policies follow |
Yes because there aren't any ridiculous comments coming from the other side. |
This idea that there is something the county did in the last 5 years that caused this has no relation to facts. Do you really think Will Jawando getting elected to county council made some guy think it was ok to stab someone in CVS? |
Shifting demographics.
Prosecutors and judges do play a role after the fact…and perhaps in terms of recidivism and prevention. |
It only feels like a surge because crime compared to the 80’s and 90’s was historically rock bottom low.
Crime everywhere is up due to a pandemic and corporations doubling their profits while cutting wages. I agree we need more corporate oversight to stops the insane carpet bagging going on. |
