Defense of children is everyone’s business |
Religiosity is at historic lows in the US among both democrats and Republicans. Yet, the left constantly ascribes all conservative issues to religious fanaticism. You all sound like those weirdos who say lizard people from outer space rule the planet. You don't have to be religious to think a 15 year old might not be able to meaningfully consent to having her breasts removed. |
c Please cite the studies that confirm that puberty blockers reduce suicide and self harm. You won’t be able to because none exist. But knock yourself out trying. |
Parents don't have unlimited rights. Conservatives are actually pretty consistent on this. You can't kill a 5 month old fetus, you can't have your teenage daughter's breasts removed, etc. But, you are dodging here. You allege that in order to not be a Nazi, you have to be in favor of minors having surgeries to remove their genitals. That's a weird definition of Nazi. Nazis were famously all about grim experimental surgeries. |
I’m sure you feel the same way about breast augmentation and nose jobs for teens? |
I do, yes. I think it's fine to fix disfigurement, but teens should not be cosmetically altering their bodies. |
Wow! What is a “5 month old” fetus? I should start adding 9 months to my actual birthday, by your logic. |
Birthday. Read it again. Yes. Many people believe fetuses are alive. Even doctors, for example, believe fetuses are alive, and that they can die. It's a pretty maintain view. |

Republicans just want to rile up the rubes and get media time with both of these issues.
Do some of their voters really care and see both of these issues as somehow evidence of "evil." Yes, according to my friends who are currently GOP voters. Do the GOP politicians really "care?" No, not many. It's the way they get screen time. If you think otherwise, you are a rube they are grifting. |
There is a bit of truth, putting aside your classist characterization of Republicans as "rubes." The truth is that this issue doesn't directly effect many people. It's used as a broader metaphor for the damage that unchecked woke ideology can cause. So when people are complaining about transing the kids, it is shorthand for broader concerns about how kids are being trampled under things like school shutdowns, extremely high suicidal tendencies, mental illness, etc. It's not just about trans surgery or even primarily about it. It's about the intense reality distortion that is happening right now and the fear about how it will damage the kids. |
| It’s all about a wedge issue. They don’t really care about any policies at all, as long as they retain power. They sell the most emotional issues they can to people who lack the ability to think through complex issues just for their vote. |

Like getting their ears pierced? |
No, the low information conservative voters I am talking about are taking "trans" very literally, they typically dislike all gay and trans people, so this wins them as voters over to the republicans. These are the people I am characterizing as "rubes." There is no shorthand. They dislike and/or hate lgbt people and, usually, black and hispanic people as well. I know these voters, they are my relatives and former friends. There is no 'shorthand" and you are kidding yourself if you think there is. Trans may be "shorthand" for more educated republican voters, but not the "base." |
