Is this for something different than the online Tutor Me Education tutoring?

I’ve heard they are switching to in person in school tutoring but not sure how it will work. And it’s only for mcps selected students so any child who can benefit will not get it if their grades are ok.

I support this. MCPS needs to be fiscal stewards of the district’s funds. If a child needs MCPS funded tutoring, the district(or a parent) via testing reports, grades, and in class performance should be able to show why. It is not on the district to pay for extracurricular tutoring just because people like to have it or want to advance further.

Agree. If parents want this, they can pay for it.

My son has been unable to schedule any tutors on demand for the past week or so. Does anyone know if this will be corrected?

Sure but core subjects like math & english should be supported by MCPS. Our tutor at Tutor Me Education made the largest impact than any other intervention our school held.

Not all parents can afford it, and that is the issue. So, we have to let our kids fail before they are allowed help?

And this is one of the root problems of achievement gaps amongst various demographics.

Multiple parents told me how great tutors from Tutor Me Education are.

Personally, we were matched with two amazing tutors (Orton Gillingham certified), two good tutors, and two okay tutors. The two amazing tutors are better than those who I found through expensive private tutoring services.

If you haven't tried it, you may want to fill out a request form now, in case MCPS decides to cotinue the service beyond June 16th, 2023.

I'm sorry the free service isn't up to your planning standards.

+1. It's clear that's how a lot of parents were using it.

Maybe if MCPS did a better job with their curriculum and teaching, those of us using the service wouldn't need it. And, not all kids have access to basics like music/arts in school so it is reasonable to use it. Remember equity?

Agree! Not everyone can afford services. Single parent speaking here. Equitable support is necessary to bridge this gap

Free summer tutoring is not going to happen according to our coordinator. Thank the County Council.
